Don't be put off by prices, value for money, good quality and generous portions, relaxed atmosphere. Excellent

We wanted a quick lunch so stopped in at the green cafe. The homemade lemonade was good. Unfortunately the egg mayonnaise sandwich was more of a mayonnaise sandwich- there was about 1/4 of a hard boiled egg in it. I did raise this and the staff immediately agreed to rectify this but sadly they didnt have any more egg mayo ready to go so it would have meant waiting a further 20 minutes for some to be made up or I could choose something else from the menu. I opted for the latter. In the meantime, the sandwich and the empty egg mayo tub were put on a tray together in my view and I noticed the tub had a sticker on the side saying use by 31/12 (date of my visit was 2/1) so I do hope this was not the case. Not surprisingly, by this point I had decided I didn’t want an alternative. We were subsequently offered a refund (without even having to ask) which I gladly accepted. All in all, I was disappointed by the quality of the food and won’t be returning. However, I have to say, the staff handled the issues I raised professionally, politely and kindly.

Had the curry sauce and chips on a totnes christmas market day for £5, the lady served the portion of chips with her hand, not very hygienic and not very big and the curry sauce wasn’t a traditional chip shop curry sauce, it was absolutely disgusting. The presentation of the curry sauce was unappetising, stunk and tastes how it looked like vomit, had to throw it away.

They have new owners and we had a great meal with excellent service. Kids loved the pizza and milkshakes. Have a good choice for a light meal - recommend.

Disappointing. Cakes were very nice but the coffee was very poor. The floor was dirty and full of crumbs especially around the edges and corners. The service was abrupt and staff were more concerned about discussing their personal lives. We will not be returning.

Veggie quiche with baked beans was really tasty and filling too. The staff are super friendly and there is such a happy vibe. The Indian food looks great too.

Had a homemade cheese scone, it was the best cheese scone I have tasted nice and warm as well, the staff were very helpful and friendly, definitely go back there, all the food is homemade, it looks and smells lovely

Not a fan of having to leave a poor review but I visited this cafe at the end of August and have to be honest about how it was. We were looking for a quick lunchtime snack after spending the morning in Totnes and Green cafe seemed to fit the bill. We were going to sit outside to eat but we’re told there was an extra cost so it was cheaper to takeaway which was not a problem at all and we ordered 2 x Cornish pasties for me and my wife, and pizza slices for my children and we walked down to the bottom of the town by the river to eat these. Sadly, the 2 Cornish pasties were warm on the outside and barely warm on the inside and weren’t particularly tasty. My boys described the pizzas as ‘ok’ and these were warm still. As we’d already been up to the top of the town we didn’t want to walk back up to top to raise this with the cafe but it was slightly disappointing at the price we paid for these. I wish every success for the cafe on the whole but need to be honest about our visit.

Brilliant full English breakfast cooked by Kim, nice ,friendly service. Would definitely pop in again for snacks, everything prepared freshly daily which I like to see. I missed the pop up curry night unfortunately , but have heard they're very good, tasty and good value.

Incredibly kind people and environment, with lovely art on the walls. Stands out from other Totnes establishments by the lovely real Indian foods they serve (one of the owners is from India,) authentic and great meals.

Wow, so unbelievably shocked with some of these bad reviews. For a hardworking team trying to pick up after previous owners and bad reviews, it’s proving quite difficult to make a change. Prices of food have been adjusted according to prices of suppliers, currently the UK is going through a cost of living crisis - this shouldn’t affect hospitality by the sound of some of these reviews! The cafe aims to provide a choice of food for most people who come through, trying to incorporate so much choice is difficult and yet.. they do it! Ranging from special milks, curries, traditional English pasties, cakes etc.. they seem to have it all! Also for a Totnes standard - the prices aren’t that bad, as we know. Totnes is an artisan town and the prices do reflect that. The staff are lovely and kind - very hard working and happy unless not treated with kindness, which does happen often in hospitality & customer service. Trying to make a place better after years of an undesirable reputation is tricky - let’s help these new owners to get where they need to be.. supported and smiled at.As some will know, I am the daughter of the owners, we are a family that works hard to make this place comfortable and interesting both for staff and lovely customers.Thankyou!

This is my go to place when I go to Totnes. Whether it’s just for a coffee or for food aswell. The atmosphere and service is always happy and friendly, they make everyone feel so welcome. The food is always great, the curry’s are the best around. Couldn’t recommend it any higher! If you are in Totnes it’s a must.
