From walking into The Golden Lion we were made to feel welcome. The landlady was lovely and chatty but professional. We sat by the log fire which was needed on a cold day! Food was tasty and it was good to hear that end of February she would be doing local sourced food and home cooked meals. I can’t wait to go back. Would definitely recommend

Absolutely TERRIBLE ? I'm mad and disappointed. I waited a good 30 minutes for my food! And it wasn't even worth it. All I know is that this place won't be seeing a single penny of mine again. The baked beans were sloppy! Hashbrown.... Don't even get me started on that.. the kids didn't enjoy anything at all. I was upset with the staff the most They would roll their eyes at you constantly... Terrible experience. Do not recommend

Lovely friendly pub with an open fire. Food was nice ? The barmaid was very welcoming and even the local rif raff(in there words) were friendly lol all up for a good laugh, pity we were driving or would have stayed for a few more. Will go back when next in Barnard castle.

We had a day out at Barnard castle and had a Sunday roast I have To say it was one of the best we have had, it was delicious, the staff were friendly chatty and helpful and the fire was amazing on a cold day, I would 100% recommend a visit
