Very, very good café in Barnard Castle. Pleasant, efficient staff. Very clean. Gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options available. Great tasting homemade food. Cakes are fabulous - best carrot cake I've ever had, from the first mouthful. Great tea selection, the lapsang souchong loose leaf was delicious, smoked and aromatic. The service was great & the lunch options were varied & sounded fab. My partner had the quiche (came with new potatoes, salad & coleslaw) & I had pate, toast, chutney & salad. Both meals were delicious & the right amount for a lunchtime meal. We were too full to try one of their delicious looking cakes, which was a shame. The cost was also very reasonable & we will definitely return to try more of their food. Very impressed.

Nice cafe but a little chaotic. Had to wait what seemed to be an eternity for a bacon and egg sandwich BUT the wait was well worth it. Very nice sandwich when it arrived. WOULD go back again.
