Set in the beautiful village of Alfriston we came across this by chance. A lovely little pub with open fire, incredibly friendly staff, and brilliant food. 2 of us had the Sunday Roast Lamb which was really tasty and tender. Loads of heavy, which you don't get in many places without having to ask! One of us had the steak and that was also really tasty and tender. We tried 3 different deserts, the special lemon and orange pudding, fruit crumble and custard, and chocolate brownie....read full review
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this little, cosy pub-hotel. The room and bathroom were spotless and nicely decorated. We were greeted nicely and felt welcome. The only minus was the breakfast, which was self-service with not much choice and also not the best quality.
A very characterful place that certainly left an impression. We checked in early and were shown to our room by a really helpful man who had everything in control!.The room was all clean and tidy, with period features like ye-olde doors and low ceilings (watch out if you are tall!).One thing we did notice is the huge amount of signs around the accommodation spelling out rules, rules, and more rules... felt a little bit like overkill.The lady serving at the bar was friendly enough....read full review
