British Restaurants in Rye

“The starter and main course were as good as any food I have ever eaten. Thoroughly delicious. Pudding not to the same standard and wine a little disappointing. Service fabulous, very friendly and perfectly attentive.”

“We met family for dinner and stayed the night. Dinner: friendly staff, good choice of ales, and table in the comfortable main bar. The food was excellent and - given its high quality - very reasonably priced. Local ingredients, well cooked and presented. The steak and ale pie was excellent! The room was smaller than expected (great photography!) and as advertised, sloping and olde worlde! All the basics were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good.”

“Firstly what makes this hotel is the amazing attentive staff!! The hotel only has 20 rooms so its cosy and feels homely. The rooms aren’t huge but have everything needed for a short stay also are very clean. Location is perfect 10 min walk to camber sands beautiful beach. Food was fresh and tasty - we were in the essential package which is half board with some lovely extras. Have to say a big thank you to Crystal, a lovely welcome on arrival, Kate, Louisa, Cihat who looked after us during meals so patient! And manager Lindsay who has a big welcoming personality. My husband and I will definitely return. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!”

“This is a stunning hotel located in central Rye with parking. Inside it is quirky, historical and well kept within character. I was going to deduct one star for service as we had a very condescending receptionist who did not make us feel very welcome on arrival (the other receptionist was lovely) BUT all of the other staff were friendly efficient and very helpful so left as five stars. Our room was clean and a great character room, perhaps a shower curtain would have been useful to stop water on the floor but lovely to have tea tray and water supplied. We ate bar food here which was OK but did not use the restaurant as the menu did not suit our tastes and was expensive. Overall yes we would definitely go there again.”

“Quality fish and chips, highly recommend. Reasonably priced. Friendly, helpful staff. Bit of a gem in town, competing with many other restaurants in the High St.. Also takeaway service.Parking: There r a number of paid parking options. Jempsons Supermarket, opposite train station, Wish Street Car Park. All around £1 per hour. There are very few free street parking places, I assume occupied, I assume, by locals. The above mention paid parking are within 5 minutes walk to Marino's.”

“3 times a year we stay in Camber. The Owl is consistently good service and quality food. It's quite expensive for the area, but don't mind paying for quality. In the summer months, or more than 4 anytime, I would recommend booking in advance. Will return next year.Walkability: Off coast road, close to the extensive Camber beach, therefore handy for apre beach walks/sunbathing.Food & drinks: Good selection of ales.Noteworthy details: The beach is extensive, where the tide goes out seemingly to the horizon.”
