Such a disappointment. We've come to London post holiday for nearly 30 years and always loved coming to Paul, Covent Garden. In a week we would be here 3 or 4 times. Due to covid (and a family emergency) this was our first trip since January 2020. To discover that they don't provide table service was bad enough, but the plates (as still advertised on their website) of quiche, side salad and artisan breads were no longer available added to our disappointment. I ordered the ‘GOURMET PASTRY PLATTER’ to be delivered as a birthday gift from the Covent Garden branch. I think it’s a great value for money in comparison to what Gail’s have to offer and it’s probably a better quality and variety of patisserie in general. Perhaps the best Paul in London. The food and drinks used to be authentically French but perhaps because it’s been around for a while, it feels like any other bakery. That said it’s the only place I can get Cannelle from. I love this sticky chewy custard taste bomb with its caramel exterior. But because it was early morning I chose a Portuguese Pastel de Nata.
