Always used Flying Fish years ago, food was great, then change of ownership 5+ years ago and it went seriously down hill, so went elsewhere. Tried them again today as our usual was closed and had been years, so thought it may have improved. We had scampi and chips, scampi was pretty good but chips had a real strong oil taste, as if they’d been cooked in olive oil, even salt and vinegar wouldn’t mask the taste, not nice at all. Sadly won’t be giving them another try.

I am a big fan of the food of Flying Fish. The veg tastes fresh, the cooking is excellent, and the flavour balanced. Their Chinese takeaway style chips are also good.I am blown away by the high quality of the service. Very nice fish and chips from here. Both were freshly cooked to order and the best I have found in Fleet. Perfectly cooked tender white fish in a light, crisp batter and really nice crisp, thick cut chips. Both were excellent in both texture and flavour, and not excessively greasy.Cod, small chips and mushy peas cost £11.80 which is on the pricey side but the portions are large and the quality is top notch.
