Dropped in on a Thursday at 6pm and given a choice of tables by Charlotte G - offered drinks immediately and advised about the specials available in addition to the menu - although we had to order at the bar which is understandable given the day - we enjoyed a superb sea bass each and reasonably priced house wine - Charlotte and the two lads were very pleasant and keen - When paying the bill I’m personally not a fan of service charges but was told it could be removed - on seeing the receipt it does inform you that it is shared within the staff - which we didn’t mind given the service we received - certainly worth a visit !

Lots of simple, little things that should be standard practice in the pub industry weren’t done: drink order wasn’t taken when we sat down, had to wait 10 minutes; water was asked for and we had to go up to the bar to chase it up; not checked on whilst eating to see if we like the food and would like another drink(I did); my wife asked for garlic butter when ordering which they didn’t have but we weren’t told that until the food came out; not offered sauces for our chips; took over 5 minutes to bring over dessert menu. And they don’t take cash which is only signed on a small, nondescript a4 sign by the door. It’s not like it was busy either, less than half full. The food however was very nice, apart from the vegetables which had been boiled to mush.

The pub has it all, great food (fish and chips are hearty portions) helpful staff, dog friendly and spotlessly clean. Super array of areas to sit and chat and spend time with special people.Parking: Plenty of spaces to parkKid-friendliness: Children of all ages were welcome.Wheelchair accessibility: It’s a ground flor pub.

Great food, great staff. We always enjoy our visits to this beautiful pub.

Once again good food and choice of beers/wines. Service was a bit erratic but food arrived hot.Menu choice was better than most pubs.Recommended for every day grub and drink.

Nice building but the food is all bought in, not homemade, and it shows in the quality. Pie was like something you can buy from Tesco but costs ££. They dont accept CASH. Service was attentive but inexperienced server.

No table service, order and pay at bar, 2 of 4 dishes returned as cold, clear own plates, service charge of 10% added without asking.

I stopped here on my way home, what a mistake that was, I ordered a pint of ale, which wasn't good, but the choise was so poor that I suffered it, but didn't finish it, I also ordered the fish pie (pastry) and vegetables, it came out in about 3 minutes which I was quite shocked by, I very soon realised how they achieved this, the pie was rock solid and the vegetables had obviously been kept warm for hours as they were flavourless, limp and inedible! This was possibly the worst pub meal I've ever had, I didn't even get the chance to tell the staff as nobody came to my table to ask if everything was OK and they make you pay first.I will never return to this soulless, poor excuse for a pub, it is horrible!

Always a great place to stop for lunch, we often pop in on our way to our son's as it is situated on the A272 just outside of Petersfield. There is an excellent choice of beautiful food and the ambiance great. The staff are always friendly and helpful and we're always made welcome.Well worth a visit.

Food was ok, based on a limited Sunday menu, but not particularly hot and very disappointing service. The server didn't have a clue about different drinks and wanted to know what sloe gin was. He started to take our order and then stopped us so he could get a pen to write it down. After the main course arrived we had to ask for accompaniments (horse radish, ketchup etc.. ). The coffee and the bill came before desserts had arrived and we had to wait a while for the desserts to then be served. When we were ready for the bill it took over 5 minutes to attract some attention.

As a group of 4, we visited last night. The menu was very limited to one page and yet several items listed were not available such as salmon, venison and steak. As we waited to be seated, the manager said ‘just sit them anywhere’ to the waitress. Had I not been with company, I would have walked out.The food was average, nothing special and over priced. A simple cheese burger was over £16. The baked camembert platter came with 4 water crackers, a tiny bit of bread for £15.We were sat near the entrance and spent the night hearing the moans from the new manager that he wasn’t organised whilst his very limited crew rushed to serve a full restaurant.Overall, it was a very poor experience and one I hope never to repeat!

A large pre booked group -- not enough places laid, orders mislaid, utter chaos as staff had left just prior to our visit. Some people were served at 7.30pm and some mains arrived at 9.30. Unfortunately they should have cancelled us. Steak inedible, chicken inedible. (aparrently they had employed a temporary cook). Just down to disastrous management.

We stopped at the Seven Stars on the way to Brighton and on the way back, both times for lunch. My partner is disabled but the team were great, found us an accessible table both times (even though we had not booked and they had Xmas parties arriving) and we had an excellent lunch on both occasions. Particular thanks to Charlotte G (possibly C, apologies!) as she really looked after us. We have been before but will definitely be visiting again.

Sadly this pub isn’t what it was. My friend and I have been coming to eat here for around ten years but, it’s under new management. Tonight’s visit was not enjoyable. I ordered papadelle with ragu. It was terrible. The pasta stuck together, the ragu was flavourless. My partners usual fish and chips were disappointing and dry. The ladies loos were in a poor state. One out of order, two blocked up, the door wouldn’t lock on the only usable one. We won’t be returning.

The pub was short staffed but there still seemed to be lack of urgency. We had a drink while we waited for our friends to arrive. It took about 15 minutes for it to come out. When the rest of the party did arrive, it took a while to take their drink order. We then ordered food which we had to chase up after an hour. For the prices they charge, the portions are small. To be fair, the others in my party were happy with their pies and fish and chips but my chicken was like warm and very dry. Also tasted weirdly of cheese. No one bothered to check in on us or even clear our plates, let alone ask us if we wanted desserts or more drinks. We then had to chase up the bill. Other tables had to ask for things too. Not impressed and won’t return which is a shame as the venue itself is lovely.
