What a lovely pub! Came for drinks on Friday night and had a warm welcome from the locals, the dogs and the landlord David. Returned on the Saturday night for dinner. We shared the Tempura Prawns that were perfectly cooked- crispy and hot with a sweet chilli sauce on the side. We wished we'd ordered one each instead of sharing! Then for our main my partner had the Meon Burger with additional cheese and bacon. He pronounced it extremely juicy and tasty. It came with coleslaw and skin on chips which were clearly homemade and very moreish.I had the homemade cottage pie which was topped with mash and cheese. This was the best cottage pie I've ever eaten. Apparently the cook's grandma's recipe. It came out piping hot from the oven with peas. Proper comfort food.It was torture waiting for it to be cool enough to eat.Suffice to say this is a wonderful pub and judging by the cakes on the bar I suspect it's an equally good daytime cafe David and his team are very welcoming and made us want to stay longer.Highly recommended!

Came here for a quiet coffee. Ordered a hot chocolate and it was sooooo good. Lady who served us was very friendly but not overly so. Perfect.

Parking available front and back. Garden for children with play equipment and seating. Seating out front. Bar staff didn't know how to use till. Didn't pour correct drinks, added drinks we didn't have to bill, charged twice for drinks. Food was of poor standard for the price. Had a sunday roast. Dog running in and out of kitchen. No atmosphere.Parking: Parking out back. About 6 spaces.Kid-friendliness: Games inside for children to play books puzzles play area out back in garden

Excellent. Really good food. I have a gluten free diet and there were lots of options for me on the menu. There are also vegetarian and vegan options. The service is very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. I would recommend The Izaak Walton to all of my friends and family.
