Pubs in Romsey

“Went there last night for the first time. The place was packed until the final bell and it's not hard to see why. The space is old and traditional, warm and welcoming. It was quite obvious that the staff believe in their pub; the service was very good and the host and servers mostly all made the effort for personal contact that felt in no way strained or insincere. The highlight was the food. Some of the best food I've had in a long time, and my group agreed wholeheartedly. I had the wood pigeon pastrami and the beef pie. No words to describe how good, except to say I ate slowly to savour every bite. At the table, high applause for the regular AND the gluten free fish & chips, and the braised beef bonbon. The only issue is lack of parking, which can't be helped, but I would be happy to walk from Romsey town centre in the pouring rain to sit by the fire at The Three Tuns and enjoy the food. Highly recommend.”

“Met 6 friends for lunch on a chilly and very wet rainy day. Service was friendly and very good, and the lunch specials very reasonably priced, which is welcome these days. Two gentlemen were enjoying sausage and mash which in retrospect we should have ordered as looked tempting and appetising, - nevertheless our desserts were delicious. Apple crumble with custard, and one chocolate cheese cake, all generous and in fact too much to finish. This pub is very good value for money, we would come again, our only minor downside would be that for us, at least the place wasn't warm enough but it was a very chilly day and we are all getting on in years!”

“We visited the Bear and Ragged Staff with family for a lunchtime meal. Two of our group had disabilities, yet the staff could not have been more helpful. We were not rushed in ordering our food and the staff were attentive and helpful. There is a good choice of food on the menu which suited all tastes. The food was hot and good sized portions. We did have one query with an order, but it was dealt with promptly. We would thoroughly recommend a visit to this pub. It was so nice to be made welcome and valued as customers. Special thanks to Lee the assistant manager who is a credit to the pub from our first hello’s to goodbyes.”

“We booked a table in the evening after a day at paultons park. We didn't have any problems getting a table on a Friday night and service was quick and friendly. The food was excellent, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The only criticism I would make would be that the food prices were a little high, especially for a pub away from other attractions.”

“We called in for a Monday lunch, without booking, and were quickly welcomed to a table. The Luzborough is quite a large and rambling building, a mix of old and new, with lots of different "rooms" so you don't feel crowded, and it is not as noisy as a huge open-plan pub. The car park is big too. Our drinks soon arrived and so did our food. I had chicken in a basket which was piping hot, with crispy chicken, tasty chips, gravy (not in a basket!) and a decent salad, not just a garnish. My husband had the Salmon Fishcake Florentine which he enjoyed and said was a bit different from the usual menu items. He had some garlic bread too which was fragrant and not rubbery to chew. Michelle was very attentive. We treated ourselves to a dessert too. He had the strawberry cheesecake which got the vote of approval, and I had Eton Mess sundae which was very nice, and not as many calories as some of the desserts..... We have been here a few times before and will definitely return.”
