Villa Italia - Sawbridgeworth

It is difficult to judge as I am sure we didn't get the full experience, so we will need to come back again to judge fully and give a better review. To start, I had to send my drink diet coke back as flat. Changed promptly and with good grace, no fuss. We didn't have starters. My lasagne was fine and tasty. My friends risotto had to go back as not cooked to al dente and wasn't cooked through. The waiter made a joke about the cook being in love ❤️. Don't get me wrong, everything was dealt with without fuss. It just seemed to miss the mark somehow. All the waiters were attentive and friendly, and the inside of the restaurant looked charming. They are dog friendly and we sat at this table which is near the door.

The Orange Tree

Celebrated a friend’s birthday as she wanted to go somewhere different. We were thrilled with the staff’s greeting, friendliness, polite and attentive service.
The menu offers a wide variety and selection of starters, mains and puddings.
This was our first visit. We will definitely bring friends and families again. Thank you very much. 03/08/2025

Shed Coffee House Ltd

Pleasant enough for a lunch, although it was very busy. Food was OK - had Ham, Egg, Chips - would have been better with free range eggs (the ones served were very flat and pale) and chunky chips instead of 'fries', otherwise all good!

Green Man Pub

Lovely pub, amazing service.

Special shout out to Millie who made us feel so welcome and was so polite.

Will deffo visit again xx

Mint Cafe

Just been in the mint café, very impressed. My go to test of a new café and a personal favourite is eggs Benedict. Cooked just right, coffee was with me very quickly. Good service, will be back again.

The Queens Head

Wonderful food, WONDERFUL service from barmaid Billy who was simply lovely, welcoming and warm. Give her a raise!

Food was absolutely top too. We'd eat her anytime. Great NZ Sauv Blanc as well.

New Mexico Restaurant

Delicious cocktails, 2 for 1 from 4-6, cocktails that you don’t usually find on typical menus.
Also had great veggie options which isn’t always common. The staff was very kind and friendly. Will be returning

Coffee Base

I regularly go to Coffee Base cafe in Newhall for my flat white. The coffee is great, nice and strong.
The cafe has a good atmosphere and the staff are friendly. It can sometimes be difficult to find a parking space as there are some limitations on parking around Newhall.

The Rising Sun Ale House and Kitchen

We had a lovely time in here. Friendly people and beer was good. Rose prosecco was lovely and cold. Good luck to you with starting over again since the covid. Lord and lady briggs. Xx

Visited recently and had a pastel de nata, I'd never had one before. It was gorgeous! 2 days later we were at a famous Pastel de Nata speciality shop in Covent Garden. Seriously, not a patch on Listed!! ?

Chandini Indian

A lovely restaurant, friendly waiters and the food is delicious. Their onion bajis are the best I've ever tasted. It is mine and my Allan's favourite Indian restaurant. I would highly recommend Chandini.

Old Bell Inn

Been a few years since I had been in the Old Bell. Popped in for a pint to shelter from the rain( any excuse will do). Has been renovated since I was last in and has improved the look while retaining it's historic layout. Good range of beers on offer and friendly welcome from the single member of staff behind the bar. Pleasant local pub and worth a visit if visiting Sawbridgeworth ( even if it isn't raining). There is also a pleasant beer garden

Restaurant @ Manor of Groves

I booked afternoon tea here to celebrate my birthday with my family. There were 13 of us in total. I only booked a fortnight before, and had never in fact visited previously. I was pleasantly surprised, we were seated in the conservatory, with lovely views of the grounds. The staff, service, and food were all excellent. We all had a wonderful time. Thank you so much!

Peking Palace

Top notch Chinese and the best one ever!! They say you always favour your own Chinese but I truly believe ours is the best! The hor d’oeuvres are just amazing and the staff are always so friendly and hard working!! The chicken in yellow bean sauce and cashew nuts is my favourite dish- but there are so many to choose from! I recommend both the take away and to eat in but eating in is definitely recommended!!!
