“The Propeller Inn does not look quaint. I has no thatched roof or babbling brook. But if you drive past and choose not to stop and dine, you are missing something special. (N.B. It does have a very smart outdoor dining/drinking veranda which I'm sure would be amazing on a sunny day watching the light aircraft take off and land from the adjacent Bembridge Airport). After reading reviews here my wife and I stopped by Friday after lunch service to check availability for that evening. Lucky we did as there were just 2 tables left. I suggest you book if you intend to dine. There is a large, free, car park but we arranged for a drop off and pick up from Bembridge Taxis (recommended). We had a problem with the menu: virtually all of the dishes are on our 'go-to' list. It was as if the chef knew all of our favourites and there they all were! We each chose a starter (warm scotch egg and deep fried whitebait) both were delicious. We both plumped for the much reviewed full rack of ribs. They were amazing! (I was a little concerned as I'm currently receiving dental treatment but these were 'fall-off-the bone' good. No worries there! Although portion sizes are large we both wanted to see if the desserts matched the quality of our starters/mains. They did: apple and mixed berry crumble and a 'proper' in-house cheesecake. Yummo! Star of the show was definitely the food (quality, presentation) and indeed the chef(s) who prepared our meal. A very special mention however to the two wait staff/greeters: although the restaurant was full they whizzed around with smiling polite efficiency. They are a credit to the restaurant. Bill paid, drinks finished, full to the brim, our taxi arrived (on time) to take us home very contented. I suggest you book and go. Soon.”
