Popped in here twice on a recent visit to the IOW (March '24). Very convenient for Newport bus station. Friendly service. Good range of drinks. Some outdoor seating. A lovely pub.

Can't get over how shockingly bad the pizza I had from here last night was. Soggy, doughy even the cheese and sauce was bad.

We were a group of 8 on a golf weekend, and we chose to stay at the Wheatsheaf Inn in Newport. The location allowed us easy access to the coast and golf courses with just a 20-minute drive. The Inn was truly fantastic, with warm and welcoming hosts, clean rooms and delicious food. The pub downstairs had just the right amount of atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it to anyone seeking accommodation in Newport.Nearby activities: Great location to explore Newport and the whole island.Food & drinks: Great Pizza parlour connectd to the pub downstairs. Great range of beers and lagers in the pub with a great atmosphere.

Just popped into the wheatsheaf for a Sunday roast. It was delicious. Lots of food, really hot. A really nice touch was the bowl of cauliflower cheese and extra gravy. Followed by a sticky toffee pudding and a coffee. Great attentive staff, real fire great food. A perfect Sunday meal. We’ll be back.

We stopped here for a drink and dessert after dinner. The staff were very attentive. The food was great and the atmosphere in the bar was relaxed and friendly. The square makes a beautiful backdrop and feels like you're in the mediterranean. We'll be back !

I stayed at the Wheatsheaf for 1 night during the September heatwave. I really enjoyed my stay & would recommend the Wheatsheaf to anybody. All the staff were lovely, especially the lady running the breakfast in the morning. My room was great, really clean and the bet was so comfy. The thing that really made my stay a 10/10 was the air conditioning unit in the room, much needed when it's almost 30c outside, I had an amazing sleep. The location of the hotel is perfect, right in the heart of Newport. Looking forward to visiting again:)
