My friend took me to the Poet for my birthday. We both enjoyed really delicious food from the set lunch menu. The thoughtful waiter overheard my friend mention my birthday and organised a birthday pudding for me completely on his own initiative. It was such a nice touch and made for a perfect afternoon. Thank you!

I cannot fault my favourite place for a roast ever! We came with friends who'd not been before and they were as impressed as us. The service is PERFECT....just the right amount of communication and attentiveness. The food is INCREDIBLE. Only thing I'd like are bigger portions, not because they're small but the food is just unreal! The best cauliflower cheese I've ever eaten. See you all soon x

We had a wonderful meal at the Poet for my birthday. The food was great. So much variety, flavour and interest. We left feeling very full and happy. Service was top notch with front of house manager Tom Haacke making us feel very welcome ( along with being very knowledgable and passionate about the menu and accompanying wines ) I would thoroughly recommend a meal at The Poet.

Great food but sample quantity at ridiculous prices. We spent nearly £100 on a lunch for two but there was barely anything to eat..Ambience is similar to a local cup.. price just doesn’t do justice.. or if you want to charge that price, atleast give people a meal worth of foodWouldn’t recommend to anyone

They have lost a table of 6 because they ‘don’t cater for vegans’ - there’s only one vegan in our party but we are more than happy to go somewhere else that does cater for vegans and is firmly in 2024!!! Come on Poet - watch the ego doesn’t get too big!

A warm welcome as we arrived, very friendly staff and enjoyed a pre lunch drink in the cosy bar area.We went for 3 courses from the a la carte menu, accompanied by a lovely pinot noir. We honestly couldn’t fault the food, which was delicious. I would highly recommend the scallops to start and the duck for main.We will be back after a very pleasant lunch!

This was our first trip to the Poet in a while, and it didn’t disappoint! We came for Sunday lunch and were really impressed. The staff were lovely and very helpful, and we got our drinks ordered almost immediately. The Gin cocktail was lovely! Our starters were gorgeous, as were our mains (the beef in particular was stunning and cooked perfectly), and the dessert was also great. A very enjoyable afternoon out for lunch, and we’ll definitely be back!

Our first time at the Poet and our first time eating out on Christmas Day and we loved it. From the minute we walked through the door the team were so welcoming, friendly and professional, it felt so cosy and Christmassy and the food was amazing. We had the best time. Thank you for make our family Christmas so special.
