“We're a family of five, popped in for a mid-week lunch stopover on a longer journey on the A5. Warm welcome, excellent food and great environment. Couldn't fault it!”

“Very friendly and welcoming service which made us enjoy our meal even more. Tasty and freshly prepared food and, even though we had meat, lots of veggie and vegan options. Delicious frangipane dessert. Very much worth a little detour off the M1.”

“Just got back from Tuesday’s carvery at the Crown. Gilmorton. Whilst I’m generally not a fan of carvery food I can not fault it. Staff were efficient and friendly roast beef with more than enough sides was perfect. Pedigree ale went down a treat so definitely a 5 from me and our party of 4”

“I came for lunch with my family the other day and the food was great, good portions, very large and the price was fair. Also the lady behind the bar who was also doing everything else was lovely, polite and friendly. Definitely recommend”

“Can't fault this place. Thoroughly recommend. Attentive staff and food was good, in fact there was too much for me. Value for money though.
Would go again. I never mentioned I'm a Wednesdayite, as coincidentally we play The Foxes tomorrow. They'll probably win as I think we're fielding our under 12s team, as we have few seniors due to near collapse of SWFC at time of writing.”

“My husband and I had dinner here on Saturday night (02/08) I booked in advance a week or so before. Everything from start to finish was faultless, atmosphere both in and out is lovely, service was friendly and attentive both at the bar and in the restaurant, food was incredible, price point where you would expect from a good restaurant. Amazing menu and wine options, best meal out we have had in a really long time.”

“Had a great pizza with few drinks, game of pool and some darts fab few hours with our teens. Very reasonable and pizza was lovely. £10 for a drink and 12 inch pizza! The staff go above and beyond looking after some of the elderly clients making sure they are well looked after. Great community pub!”

“We visited The Shires last night and were super impressed! The renovation is stunning the interior is stylish and modern, with a lovely outside area complete with heaters for extra comfort and a great garden with play area for the kids. All the staff were welcoming, professional, and very friendly, especially Phoenix, Bryony, and Danielle. The food was absolutely delicious, and the peanut stack pudding was honestly the best I’ve ever had! The service was really great. A solid 10/10 ⭐️ from us – we’ll definitely be returning. Thank you!”

“Lovely restaurant, greeted by host Steve and served by the lovely and helpful Amelia.
My partner had the duck fat toast and portobello mushrooms and crispy egg, followed by the beef, I can't manage a main after a starter so I had 2 starters instead, the leak and potato soup and the king scallops, black pudding and garlic mash, the dessert we both have and recommend is the liquorice panacotta, all gorgeous. As was the red wine! We will be returning shortly!”
