I visited the Royal George last with my family and had the pleasure of dining out at this wonderful establishment. The food was cooked and presented to an exceptional level and will definitely be recommending this restaurant to friends and family. The service received from start to finish was at an extremely high standard and can't thank the staff and the chef enough for making the evening such a relaxing experience. Thank you once again.Food & drinks: Fantastic service and food.

Had heard that the new chef is good so we thought we would try the Royal George again. The chef is good. The three of us enjoyed our evening meal and the service was friendly. Will return.

No serious issues. Stayed for two nights at short notice, landlady was pleasant and accommodating. Room was small and cramped, especially the bathroom. The bar and restaurant are managed by children who seem to have no hospitality experience. Had booked with an evening meal and breakfast for both nights, but this wasn't registered on the system. Came down for evening meal on the Sunday to be told that they stopped serving at 5pm. Wasn't told this beforehand. Just little things. The place looks good on the surface, but it's a case of 'all show, no go'. Not a disaster, but wouldn't recommend.Rooms: My room was small and cramped. The bathroom was really claustrophobic.

An undiscovered gem of a pub with rooms. Customer service was first class from time we arrived to the time we left. Arriving at 6.00pm on a Sunday we discovered that the kitchen closed at 5.00pm, but the chef overheard our disappointment and interrupted his own meal to serve us a roast dinner!!The food was superb and the staff friendly and welcoming. It happened to be a quiz night so we joined in and had a great time, making new friends in the process. Our room was really comfortable and beautifully decorated. Unlike other places we've stayed in, real glasses were provided both in the room and in the bathroom. Can't rate it high enough. We will definitely return when we feel the need for mini-break again

Just had the most delicious Sunday lunch and never had such tender tasty roast beef as this. The portions are generous and the puddings and desserts ended the meal perfectly. Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. If you want a really nice Sunday lunch then visit The Royal George, I can thoroughly recommend.

WELL WELL WELL what can I say? I've stayed in over 30 hotels in the last 18 months and this is hands down top 3 ???. Amazing welcome, shown to my room, everything explained and any questions answered. I came down for dinner and sat in the snug so I could plug in my laptop and carry on working while waiting for dinner. I ordered and the wait was absolutely fine for food. Both courses came out in great time and tasted absolutely amazing, beautiful bruschetta and a very tasty burger. The room had a fan and a cooling device, both of which I was very thankful for as it was quite warm. Great night's sleep followed by a fantastic breakfast and chat with the chef. I have already rebooked in for next week. This will definitely be my go to when working in the area. I'm already looking forward to coming back. See you soon and keep up the amazing work all. Thank you.

We had a fantastic meal to celebrate a birthday. The steaks were perfectly cooked to taste and the deserts just the right portion and delicious. The staff were very friendly and efficient, contributing to a good atmosphere. We stayed the night in a very comfortable ensuite room with everything we needed. Highly recommend

Me and my dog had a wonderful stay at the Royal George! I would highly recommend staying here. The staff that I met were all super friendly, helpful and polite and went out of their way to help me feel welcome. The rooms were immaculate and the decor was lovely. The beds were super comfy and I loved the fact that the rooms came with towels, tea and coffee making facilities, and also a fan which was useful as it was quite warm weather. The shower was super clean and a good size too!The pub itself is lovely. The breakfast in the morning was brilliant. There was plenty of it; there were different options; and it was great quality food!I actually had an issue with booking accommodation in the area (nothing to do with the Royal George). Thankfully, I needed 4 nights and the Royal George at the last minute helped me out with two nights and suggested another local accommodation for the other two as they were fully booked.Brilliant place! I’d 100% go back!Rooms: The rooms had everything you need. The beds are really comfortable. The rooms were super clean. The shower was clean and really nice - a good size too!Safety: I travelled solo and never felt uneasy, staying here. You have a key to both your room and the main entrance.Food & drinks: Excellent Breakfast! The food offering was amazing!

The George has recently been taken over by new management and there have been a few different chefs, they have a new chef called J who I have to say is one of the best and most innovative chefs I have come across, I am coeliac and never feel excluded as the majority of the menu is gluten free adapted. The range of food is extensive and querky which is what I love. The staff are attentive and give exceptional customer service, I'm struggling not to go here every week for our weekly fix. Keep it up, my favourite place to eat at the moment.

Here visiting my father from Ireland,he's been living in the village for 10 years and returning from Ireland themselves, I'm originally from corby and have great memories of Cottingham when growing up,Was told of the George opening back up and decided to try the food,We had 2 pints outside and queried staff on weather we needed to go inside for food, which we did at 7.10 pm and ordered our food,a beefburgers and fish n chips, with a bottle of wine, staff were very nice, couldn't fault their work, anyway a group ov 10 sat down next to us ,didn't take much notice at the time, bottle of wine drank and no sign of food and seen that the group of 10 were getting their food before us and we waiting 40 mins,so complained to staff and they blamed the chef totally ruined our first time in the George and our evening,we were so happy early on we even booked a table for later in the week so we could bring my elderly father for dinner, it was so nice in there at the beginning, shocking the way we were treated, nothing worse than having your evening destroyed and having it hang over you the next day aswell,so thank you to the George for that.Cheers
