Special thanks to the lady who took our order who we assume was the owner, the service is outstanding!The food and coffees are delicious, one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time.It’s a quirky building and setting, right in the centre overlooking the castle ruins.Cannot fault anything and highly recommended. Helmsley is a great place to visit and this was the highlight.

Soup spectacular! — Chicken thigh salad 100% (all in the details —spot on) - absolutely yummy! Hubby had salt and pepper cod (very tasty) We had called in just after kitchen closed on a bleak cold winter Monday —- but nothing nothing at all was too much trouble - service and kindness of everyone utterly heartwarming— thank you so much. You made our day!! Excellent value - from people who clearly care about food….. Would highly recommend.

We had the most delightful lunch at this charming cafe! The staff were attentive and efficient, the food was absolutely scrummy and the atmosphere was just lovely. We are not local, but if we ever come back to the area we'll be sure to visit again.

This was our third visit ( over 5/6 years ) to this fabulous place. Today we had full English breakfasts , orange juice and flat whites. The coffee was strong and flavoursome. The breakfasts were huge , well cooked and hot. Had 3 rasher bacon , grilled tomatoes, roasted mushroom, black pudding , an enormous sausage , good toast and the creamiest scrambled eggs ever had ( remember these from our last visit too). Exceptional value for the quality of produce at £13.95. My only “complaint” ( reflection) is that I wish they did a small plate version - I knew I wouldn’t be able to eat all mine and didn’t which feels wasteful.

We've eaten here on numerous occasions and really enjoyed our meals/cakes. Today was a mixed bag. OH had the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon which he pronounced delicious and beautifully cooked. I however made the mistake of ordering the Pork Belly sandwich. It arrived looking very appealing with a lovely piece of crisp cracking on the side. Inside however, the thick slab of pork belly was less appetising. Half was soft, flabby fat which I found impossible to eat. The mayonnaise only increased the fattiness and made the bread unpleasantly greasy so in the end, a few mouthfuls of pork and some small gherkins proved to be an expensive 'meal'. Yes I know I should've said something at the time but the waitress didn't ask why I'd left most of my lunch and the place was too busy for a conversation. Next time I'll order something different. I'll just add that the Sunday roast lunches coming out looked amazing ?

I booked the table for 2 overlooking Helmsley Castle for a 40th Birthday Breakfast. Initially, I spoke on the phone to Alex - the Manager. He was very helpful & when I asked if I could post some 40th confetti for them to put on the table prior to our arrival, he agreed with no problem. The day before our arrival I rang again to confirm arrangements. I spoke to Ruby who had it all in hand. When we arrived the table was set and complimentary champagne was supplied - a lovely special touch. We ordered breakfast & coffee which was excellent and were waited on hand and foot. Thank you to all who helped make our morning extra special.
