“I can honestly say this pub is a very pleasant suprise. From the outside it just looked like a dated old pub.
BUT the STAFF , SERVICE and FOOD are first class. I inadvertently ordered a dish to hot for my delicate palate and the staff resolved it 100%

The menu is fussion and not poncey but darn good food reasonably priced, this is central York.

Come hungry the portions are generous and leave room for pudding”

The pub is frequented by the local community who clearly know the worth of this place and provide a genial atmosphere. All who work there couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. “Called in for for a bite to eat..... steak pie, home cooked chips, seasonl veg. Gammon home cooked chips, poached eggs. Both meals were superb, fresh cooked and quality. Peckham Pale was a good pint as well.”
