Proper countryside pub with the nicest bar staff. Animals are absolutely welcome, and as are children! Warm, welcoming and relaxed environment. The open fire is well stoked ready for those days with a chill.Safety: Staff are very conscious of safety matters, there's more than adequate cctv as well as the staff having a zero tolerance for any ill-behaviour.Food & drinks: Sunday dinner is hot, delicious and is lovingly supplied from the local butcher. Thick slices of chicken, beef, or pork, creamy mashed potato, and lovely veg with plenty of rich gravy. After riding the motorcycle around these lovely parts of the Pennines it's exactly what you're looking for! Accompanying a lovely pint of bitter, beer or soft drink it makes for a lovely time. Also, don't forget that fire gently burning away. Desserts also include such delights as Chocolate Laura cake, lemon drizzle with ice-cream or custard, and sticky toffee.

We visited this absolute gem of a pub on 2 occasions during our family trip to Northumberland. Along with our 2 children, we brought along 2 labradoodles and and Irish Wolfhound. We played pool, darts and ate twice. Absolutely faultless and the most wonderful atmosphere. We completely loved it. Thank you so much for your superlative hospitality.

Today was a delicious Sunday dinner.. then a quick look around the Sci-fi museum to make room for a dessert... sticky toffee pudding was amazing. No photos as too hungry!

Just stayed for 2 nights here. The staff are so kind and helpful and try their hardest to make your stay so special. It is run by mum and her 2 daughters. They are such lovely people. The breakfast is delicious fresh fruit , yoghurt, cereals and a full english . Dinner wonderful pub grub cooked to perfection. Our room with a big bay window looked over their pretty garden and our bed was super comfy. This hotel is such good value for what they are charging. Thank you to you all. We had a great time.

Great stay at the Kings Head in Allendale. Pub was nice. Beer cold. Really good, unpretentious food. Loved the Stake & Guinness Pie. Accommodation was great. Large room overlooking the square, very clean and welcoming for dogs. But what sets this place apart is the staff.Lovely place who could not be nicer and more accommodating for weary travellers. Anyone travelling around this area could do a lot worse than a stay, or some food, or just a drink, with these lovely people.(Wish I took more photos)

Ah I just don’t know where to begin. What a wonderful experience we had here! Firstly this place is set in a really picturesque village.On arrival we were greeted by a really friendly chap and were made to feel welcomed straight away. We also met other staff on arrival and everyone was really lovely and I felt really welcomed. Myself and my partner were taken to our room (another good touch).The room was really nice, with an outstanding view! Not forgetting the little complimentary details in the room, which were really nice touches like face mask. Some really nice touches.. Oh and then there was the bed.. I’m really a light sleeper, however this bed was so comfortable and snug, I was very much in dreamland in no time. Everything that I needed and more were in the room ❤️.We decided to put our things down and go to the bar and sit outside as the sun was shining. There was much to choose from in regards to selections of drinks. Again staff were so friendly and polite and accommodating too. We sat outside for a while taking in the beautiful surroundings of the village, before we decided to order food. We both had the lasagna which was delicious!! The pasta tasted so fresh and the sauce was homemade too! I could have ate it twice over! The lady serving was so genuinely nice and accommodating too. She also asked us about breakfast and if we would like a specific time, which again was a great touch! We decided to call it a night as we were going hiking in the local area.Checkout wasn’t until 11 and I woke up, drawn the curtains to that great view in the morning sunlight.We went down for breakfast and the table was set (picture below), there were fresh fruit on the table - which I could not stop eating, it was set in such a beautiful way that I didn’t want to disrupt the design (but I couldn’t resist)… Yum…We both had a cooked breakfast and again, just wonderful and the lady serving was just so kind and accommodating. Myself and my partner discussed about our experiences and we just wished we stayed longer, we booked this place as a spare of the moment and had only booked the one night..I later found that this place had been newly taken over/opening which we were very surprised due to the exceptional service! This place has a really good team of people. It’s very much the people that make the place special and everything else has been a bonus! Keep doing what you are doing!Don’t lose your authenticity.I hope to return again soon!

This special English pub deserves our patronage due to the staff being so eager to please, with a real fire to nestle up to. The food! Well say no more, absolutely delicious homemade fare from their five star kitchen. A lovely evening playing pool and darts.....PERFECT.
We were " hank marvin" last night so the nice barman went to the kitchen and rustled-up delicious chicken & chips with salad. 5 star service thank you ?

Just been to the kings head and had their nachos! Delicious and will definitely be trying more of their menu. Lovely attentive service and a warm friendly atmosphere, would definitely recommend
