Called here after reading good reviews, but was disappointed. In need of a bit of TLC this place is firmly stuck in the 1980'sdecent selection of cask ales and whiskies and definitely a locals pub vibe. The gents loos need a good clean. It was OK but nothing special.

Locals pub. Friendly enough atmos but not our cup of tea. Decent old ales and loadsa whisky's so worth it for that.

Like going back in time. Outstanding. Fantastic beer.

Excellent range of single malt whisky. Good selection of ales. The only thing that let it down for me was a bit of a damp smell. But I would still recommend a visit if you go to Alnwick.

Excellent traditional pub with very friendly staff and welcoming local drinkers. Very good beer and a huge selection of fine malt whiskeys. I saw a very negative review from a Mr Little about two days ago and I would like to offer the other side of his experience. I was a visitor drinking in this pub when this gentleman came in, ordered a drink and sat by himself around the corner not interacting with anyone at all. He did not stay long and obviously rushed home to pen his negative opinion. It is always very easy for some folks to view things from a negative standpoint but you might enjoy yourself a little more if you employed a positive attitude!

Must admit I loved the old fashioned feel of this pub. Lots of locals, a large range of beers and a huge range of whisky. Great atmosphere too.

Over rated. Beer selection average. Good whiskies. Bar staff average. Tanner Arms much better on all scores.

Wonderful community pub where the friendly welcome is only matched by the quality of the beer. We were lucky enough to be there for one of the folk music nights - just wish we could have stayed longer.

Paul Salmon

Friendly traditional bar with great service and beer, the building is a bit tired and in need of work.
