Came across this pub by chance. Looks nothing from the outside but on entering we were pleasantly surprised by the lovely warm welcome and cosy interior. The menu is fantastic and I fully recommend this lovely place for a warm welcome and fab

Spending a couple of nights in Alnwick between Christmas and New Year. Hotel suggested the Market Tavern. What a great place! Straight forward, unassuming market town pub with excellent service (thanks Cooper), excellent food (perfectly cooked ribeye) and a nice welcoming environment. Well done!!! Totally recommend, if you decide to try it out I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

Enjoyed a lovely meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was excellent and the food well presented and good quality. It was a bonus that our dog was also welcomed which made the evening relaxing and comfortable. We will certainly return if we're in the area again.

Just had a roast dinner here, the food was beyond delicious, cannot rate it high enough. The best roast dinner I have had in years, the meat melted, Yorkshire were light & fluffy, vegetables were plentiful, choice was amazing! Staff were so welcoming, helpful & friendly…this is a must if you’re visiting Alnwick!! Thank you…

We stopped here for a quick lunch after another place had no dog friendly tables left. Very glad the other place couldn't take us.We split the mac and cheese and the chateaubriand (medium rare, closer to rare) and it was delicious. They nailed it on the meat and the mac and cheese was a good side. The food was so good we managed to leave room for desert and it was worthwhile. We will stop here again if ever in the areaFood & drinks: We stopped here for a quick lunch after another place had no dog friendly tables left. Cosy tavern. Very dog friendly.Absolutely spectacular Sunday roast.Melt in the mouth beef & pork. Gorgeous real gravy! Very generous portion, couldn't manage a desert. Even though the ones that passed our table looked amazing!Although busy the staff were very pleasant, helpful & smiling! Will be visiting again when in Alnwick!
My wife is gluten-intolerant and we were struggling to find somewhere for lunch in Alnwick that had decent gluten-free options until we found this place. Food was excellent and staff were very attentive to our requirements, even departing from the strict menu to suit us. Also dog-friendly! Would definitely visit again.

I wish I could rate it higher ! I've visted twice and wow! both times have been sublime. I had the Burger, great portion and absolutely quality meat. Second time, Chicken Hannah, cheese and chicken was lush!!! By far the best place for food in Alnwick. Get yourself along for a warm welcome and a refreshing pint.

Visited here twice during our week un Alnwick. Very friendly helpful staff. Smiley and pleasant. Food was really good. We booked in advance for a Tuesday night...just as well we did as they had to turn people away who hadn't booked. The staff here are well trained and informative. Nothing seems any trouble to them even when the place was busy+++I would def recommend.Top tip:book in advance for food.

At the risk of not being able to book next time this is a great place. The rooms have what you need the bathroom is palatial lol. The food and staff are amazing. I came on a bit of a pilgrimage of my own I couldn't have been better served. .Nearby activities: Walking distance to everything you need locally .

I've eaten in a lot of amazing restraunts all around the world and I must admit the food we had here has to be one of if not the best I've had. Everything was cooled to perfection and the service was brilliant too. Well done to all the market tavern staff.
