Very friendly welcome.

Quite possibly the best steak and ale pie I've ever had!

The food and service was excellent in this pub ? however I'm still reeling from the fact I was charged £6.40 for a 1 pint for Guinness!! Why is it so expensive compared to anywhere else? ? but overall it was a nice pub ?

Just finished Sunday lunch here. Absolutely divine, both had tender lamb with all the trimmings. Sat beside the cosy fire, friendly service lovely traditional bar. We are not staying overnight, just popped in for lunch.

We arrived on a soggy and misty Saturday in February to a warm welcome. It's nice when you're expected. Our room, in an annexe, was on the first floor. It was contemporary, compact and really comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing night. The thick walls of the old building kept out all the winter chill, making for a cosy night. We ate our evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant. This is an old Inn. The bar was packed and had a tremendous buzz. By contrast, our room was very quiet.

From what i can judge, this was the best pub in town. Food looked good also.

Popped in for a drink after a long walk down the beach.Had my reactive dog with me who was definitely out of practice being in a pub and made a bit of a drama barking, was quiet enough patron-wise that the staff were tolerant of him and we are very grateful for that!Lovely atmosphere - cosy & great music, wish pup had been calm enough for us to try the food as it looked & smelled delicious from what we could see on other tables

My partner and I have been staying at the Red Lion Inn for a few nights on a visit to Alnmouth and Alnwick and we were absolutely blown away by this place. The rooms are delightful, so cozy and comfy; the staff are so welcoming and friendly, even offering to make us breakfast after we accidentally slept through the breakfast times! It's perfectly situated in Alnmouth, just a very short walk from the beach and close to bus stops to get to the station or into Alnwick. The food is delicious, we ate here for both breakfast and dinner and were very satisfied with both. I'd like to add a special shoutout to Claire for being so wonderful getting us settled and checked in, even checking to make sure we kept the same room after we had to book an extra night. We will definitely be back!

After searching for the perfect Sunday roast for a long time I think I have found it! Worth the trip from Edinburgh. Great friendly service too!

Just nipped in for lunch, the bar is very cosy and welcoming with a couple of open fires. Good selection of drinks. Only had sandwiches, but they were very tasty (the smoked salmon was fab). Highly recommend.

Called in today as a party of four with a dog. Been here numerous times and it never disappoints. Plenty of people in for a Monday afternoon but not crowded. Good selection of Ales and everyone who calls in is made welcome. Very popular with all walks of life and dog friendly in bar and garden area. Highly recommend as it just has a very relaxed atmosphere.Nearby activities: Absolutely great beach to walk on a mere 100yds away and nice views from the terrace at the bottom of the beer garden.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Parking is an issue as there is zero on site parking, there is space for a few parking spaces for overnight guests which could be utilised. Rooms are lovely, very good standard. Surpassed our expectations. Breakfast was small, which was a shame, but what was there was nice. Overall very pleasant stay.

Wonderful pub. Quiet and charming, could have happily spent the entire day here.

Called in late Fridays afternoon, the place was busy and very traditional & cosy. Dog friendly. We noticed they have a wood fired pizza menu so had a couple more pints & a beautiful pizza. Ideal combination.

A fabulous place to stay. Nice food, very clean and lovely staff/owners. Would have been 5* but the noise from late on live music spoilt our stay. Should gave ended at 8pm being a Sunday but it was still deafening us at 10.20pm...would recommend staying but not when live music is advertised as there's no escaping it.Walkability: Lots of beautiful walks all around AlnmouthNoteworthy details: This is a lovely friendly pub we have visited often over many years. It was our first actual stay there this visit.
