A delightful day out at the ex-coal mine museum with so much to see of our now, sadly dead heritage. Not only wile away with cuppa & nibbles after browsing exhibitstake ride on the 2ft gauge railway around the "lake" edge,or even walk the whole circumference, with viewin g seats to rest on, the circa 2 mile pathed walk.

A historic former 19th-century coal mine that is now a museum and heritage centre for art and local historic relics.A self-guided walk around the outdoor site with information boards explaining the buildings' use.The cutter is a modern building that houses the local archive, cafe, and an excellent interactive exhibition showcasing life as a miner up until the mine's closure.

Really enjoyed the museum. Sensible price to enter, £13 for two. Interesting info and time warp back to points in time like miners strike etc. Nice play area for kids as well as nice cafe we thought reasonably priced.

Very thought provoking and very well put together museum. The museum is located near the village of Ashington in Northumberland. It's a museum and heritage site that offers visitors a unique perspective on the region's history, particularly its coal mining heritage. It is situated within the historic Woodhorn Colliery, a former coal mine. It houses exhibitions and displays that provide insights into the lives of miners and the coal mining industry in Northumberland. Visitors can learn about the challenges, triumphs, and everyday experiences of the people who worked in the mines.Make sure you visit the miners Art gallery to see some wonderful paintings.

Fun day out for the family. The museum is really well done but not the biggest. The displays is really informative and gives some good insight. The miners art gallery was my personal favourite though, seeing the every day life as it was through the eyes of those that lived it is beautiful. The grounds are nice too, with a small play area for kids. Cafes pretty good, as usual in the kinda of place it's pricey. Year long tickets a plus, and just along from a large lake for a full day out.

We had a great visit today & our daughter loved the robots down the mine. The staff were amazing with the kids. Thank you.

We come here a lot. Nice cafe overlooking the park so we can sit and enjoy a coffee whilst the kids play. Clever mining theme park with some different features to your usual swings and slides. Often have special activities for school holidays. I loved the ice sculptures in January, all included in the admission fee (which is very cheap and you get an annual pass!)

Visited on a weekend with our 10 month old soon. We visited midday on a rainy Saturday and it was relatively quiet. The entrance fee is £7 per person, which is ok priced for a small but interesting museum. The only complaint I have is that the disabled toilets which advertise as having a baby change facility but don’t. I was told to go upstairs to the disabled change room but they still didn’t have a baby change and you were expected to use the adult change board - this isn’t equipped which edges like a baby change so it’s not ideal really.

Very interesting space. Well explained and gave a real feel of the mines and mining community. The 'coaltown' exhibition was very informative. Great value and the dog was allowed as well (except in the modern building).
