“Have been here a few times on our holiday here - both for a drink and to eat - and I have to say that it’s been a consistently good quality. Service is friendly and efficient and food is definitely at the superior end of the pub food spectrum. Sunday lunch was great (and HUGE) and the lamb shank shepherds pie and toad in the hole were both super. Nice selection of cask ale and a decent wine list. I’ve been disillusioned with Greene King since they destroyed Loch Fyne (an annoying tragedy) and a couple of poor pubs. This place suggests it is all about who owns/manages the individual establishment. And these folks are good.
Highly recommended”

“Jess and Beth were great - friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. It was also good to see a range of appealing meals for vegetarians.”

“Collected 2 Sunday Lunch’s as gift for in laws on Father’s Day. Short wait for the order but staff kept me updated. Dinners (pork) were delicious, hot and plentiful (in fact they struggled to eat it all) Really good value too.”

“if you are looking for a family ran bnb in Corbridge look no further. It is very reasonable for the service you get. The family that run this pub are highly proffesional , kind and just genuinely good people. they are always trying new ideas to see what works which in my opinion makes a business work. They listen to feedback to make alterations. This place is only going to get better. Me and my Fiance will be returning and highly recommend. Keep up the good work!”
“I met a friend today for an early lunch at the Angel in Corbridge, where we went for the classics -fish and chips and a burger.
I don't usually have burgers (they're not part of my eating routine), but l'd been quietly looking forward to this one.
And it didn't disappoint me: juicy beef, a good dose of flavour and the gherkins pulling their weight.
Afterwards, I felt rather like those travellers of old, arriving weary at the posting inn and finding themselves well looked after.”
“The Fish and Chips were huge! After a long day of flights and airport issues, the Angel was a quick bus ride from Newcastle where we started our Hadrian's Wall hike. The Angel has been welcoming travelers since 1752 and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect place to decompress. We enjoyed a wonderful meal and a few pints overlooking the historic stone bridge over the River Tyne. The Angel is easy walking distance to the Corbridge Rome Town. After good night sleep and a hearty breakfast, we were off on the hike. The hotel staff ensured our bags were marked and loaded in the vans to be transported to the next hotel. The Angel Inn takes excellent care of travelers. Hope to return again.”

“Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Corbridge's busier tourist centric main streets, Il Picollo is a local favourite for its authentic Italian dishes and friendly owners and staff.
Visiting for the first time with someone who hasn't been to Il Picollo before, we asked the chef to surprise us with the starter and main of their choice.
And what a good idea that was! The chef's recomended starter was Octopus in a light yet flavoursome tomato sauce. Full of delicate flavours and cooked to perfection this was a perfect introduction to the authentic cuisine the restaurant is rightly famous for. The main was a fillet steak in cream and Stilton which exploded with zesty flavours which comllimented but did not over power the perfectly prepared steak.
A wonderful experience and one we hope to repeat. Hightly recomended”
