I looked online for Chinese restaurants close by before I travelled to Nottingham last Sunday to see a very good friend. Near the train station in Retford, I discovered Fred's Cantonese Restaurant. Although the restaurant wasn't yet open, the proprietor observed that I was starving and allowed me inside. Five dishes were ordered. Simply the best Cantonese food I have ever had. The menu reads similar to many Chinese restaurants, but the food is done very, very differently. Stunning. Already recommended to friends.
