Teith Rd, Deanston, DouneWe didn't have time for the tour today but had lunch at the really nice cafeteria and my friend purchased so.e items from the gift shop. A former cotton mill, the site was converted to a distillery in 1966. It now has a world wide reputation for producing quality malt whiskey of many varieties. Situated adjacent to the River Teith. The distillery is a picturesque place, well worth a visit.

Buttercup Cafe
7 Main St, Perthshire, DouneIt was quite busy but we got amazing personalised service. Went with our baby daughter and was immediately shown to a nice quiet space with nearby bathroom and changing table and an available high chair.The food was excellent. I ordered a chicken burger and my wife had a soup. Very tasty and great value for money.Staff were extremely helpful and friendly which is rare in current times.We will be coming back and would highly recommend to others.Kid-friendliness: Highchairs and bathroom with changing table available. Great child options on the menu too.

The Scottish Antiques Centre, DouneThe best fish chowder I have ever tasted. I haven’t stopped going on about it to anyone who will listen. The twist of the butternut squash base is genius!This was my second visit to the cafe at the antiques centre and I was worried it wouldn’t be as good as the first time round. Glad my worries were put to rest as it was delicious.Yes, it is a bit more expensive than your usual cafe/restaurant but it is top quality food accompanied with top quality service. The many negative reviews here re cost are frustrating as the prices are on the menu and if I felt something was too expensive, I wouldn’t order I would just leave and go somewhere else.On this occasion we had the fish and chips and the chowder followed by the apple pie dessert and the rhubarb crumble. On a previous visit, we had the venison main and the chowder (because I am obsessed with it!) (included in the photographs too) and the dishes on both visits have been excellent.The inside of the cafe is lovely. There are lots of pieces of artwork hanging to look at. On our last visit in November, the fire was on too.We live in Edinburgh but it is worth the 50mins - 1hour drive out here for the food alone. We will most definitely be back for a third visit!
