Hands down, the best meal of our Scotland trip! We lucked out getting a table without a reservation. Our server (the mother of the sibling owners) was the sweetest woman, and she patiently guided me through eating lobster for the first time. The food was absolutely out of this world. If I could leave 6 stars, I would.

We went to the Brig and Barrel twice over a long weekend and have to say it was a very pleasant visit.

Friday nights sat inside and the food and service was excellent with a good atmosphere and the waitresses excellent.

Sunday we manged to squeeze in before food finished at 7pm and sat in the seating outside on a lovely sunny night.

The only thing stopping me from doing a 5 star review is the slightly small range of food on the menu.

Great place if you also just want a few beers or drinks ???

It was a little quiet when we arrived. A cold dull Saturday lunchtime. But was given a warm welcome. Service was prompt. I had a great steak pie with quality meat and good portions. Worth a visit. Recommended.

We visit the Smiddy regularly & are never dissapointed with the service ,food, drinks atmosphere. The predominantly young serving staff are all unusually mannerful & quietly confident in their occupations & the food is freshly prepared delicious & locally sourced. Keep up the great work. ?

One of the reasons we came back to Dunbar apart from the miles of lovely coastal walking. Beer garden was closed last time we were here as it was late, but been today (still here) and the beer, friendly bar staff and beer garden are all great! We’ll be back!

From start to finish the food was unreal
Sharing charcuterie was amazing pizzas to die for and the dessert was unreal. Service was fantastic too. We will be back just wished I lived closer I’d be here every week!!!

Having previously stayed at the Dunmuir, I rebooked for three nights in March and was not disappointed. There is always a warm welcome. The staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean and comfortable with sparkling white sheets and luxurious bath towels. The food, served in the 1902 Restaurant is excellent with local sources ingredients; the porridge is some of the best ever!
The proprieters, Lesley and Philip, take great care to ensure the comfort of all their guests and are welcoming and helpful. The Dunmuir is one of the diamonds in Dunbar's crown and it is an excellent location to explore both the Lothians and the Borders.

Today, I did try the coffee but I know that it was very good last year. It is still a very pleasant bar/cafe with free Wifi and dog-friendly. Had the Ice Tea, which was good and not too sweet.

Called in for a few drinks at this bar and it was busy.The beer was very good and it shows sports on its many tv s.This bar follows rugby as shown by its photos and flags on the walls and ceilings.We never stayed in the hotel rooms.

We visited the cafe while in the area with friends. It was my first visit to this cafe, but have been to others over the years. The lady serving us was polite and helpful. The coffees and cakes were served quickly, and the wee love heart was very appropriate for Valentine's Days. The selection of treats was great and tasty coffee too. Well done to the team and we'll definitely be back when next passing.

Tasty homemade food, well priced and a good selection of good beers,lagers and Ciders. Helpful and kind staff. A perfect cosy Saturday lunch in the pub with Family and our dog. I will certainly be back. Lots of historic photos on the walls. Good sized outdoor patio area and dining room.

Excellent place to stop, we found this place by accident when looking for a place to stop when on the road, it was great, food excellent and the dogs loved the space to do what dogs do, we loved this place so much we stopped on the way back from Haggerston castle with our neice and nephew in tow, they also had a ball. ?
