I love Bruichladdich, they feel like a sparky start-up even though it's been around for decades. The tour is great: I booked a VIP walkaround with Ashley, a walking repository of company knowledge and procedure. She was dynamic and generous, engaging me like an actual person instead of just a warm body walking through a time-slot. A relaxing afternoon tasting some deliciously peated whisky. The staff are amazing and genuinely love their work (let's face it, who wouldn't! ?). Thanks for the lovely introduction to Islay hospitality. ?

We had the warehouse tasting with Lewis. Nothing better than drinking scotch completely surrounded by row upon row of casks. Lewis was knowledgeable and had some good stories. He also has a great sense of humour. The highlight: We got to sample Octomore 7.3 right from the barrel! I thought this stuff from 2010 was long gone! (it is). If you are going to Islay, do not miss this distillery! Oh, and if you can’t remember Lewis’ name, just ask for Anna’s boyfriend lol!
