We stay at New Lanark quite often. This time tho we could only book B+B so decided to 'eat out'. We fancied Chinese food so went along to the Capital House. Both of us really enjoyed our food. Must say, it was absolutely delicious. The service was fast & efficient too. Where it greatly disappointed was it completely lacked any atmosphere or ambience. Capital House has been around in Lanark for many years,used to be my go to for Chinese,took a long break but am enjoying being back, the Chicken Jong Bau is decent, never have to wait too long and the food is consistently good. This was by far the best Chineese around for about 15yr ish but the past six years ish it’s became hit or a miss. I think they must have two chefs one good and one not so good. Sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s inedible. Sometimes the fried rice has spring onions and sometimes did doesn’t. Sometimes the lemon chicken is lovely and sometimes it’s dried up and horrible.
