Caulders Garden Centre Newton Mearns
South, Mearns Rd, Newton Mearns, GlasgowGarden Centre and adjoining restaurant and shop. The restaurant is definitely worth the effort of driving there.Their menu is varied, catering for all (including Vegetarian and Vegan options). Portion sizes are more than the normal and always very tasty, placed on the plate by a chef who cares! Prices are a little above the average, but the quality of the food makes it worth it. Gorgeous numerous cakes are available also. The view from the restaurant is panoramic, and in the distance can be seen beautiful snow capped mountains. The garden centre plants etc are well cared for, no dying or dry plants here. The shop provides goods for the individual, as well as for gift giving and is good for a browse. The staff are all very pleasant.Highly recommend.

The Broom Cafe
269 Mearns Rd, Newton Mearns, GlasgowHave visited here quite a few times and think cafe has a nice vibe. The staff are good and attentive. In the main, food good, however, couple of issues. My tuna and onion sandwich came with massive big chunks of onion. Perhaps a little finesse could be used + the onions chopped a bit finer, then mixed with tuna. Also sandwich looked as if it had been thrown together, halved and chucked on plate. Maybe cutting into quarters and placing on plate, crust side down, would not only look a bit more appetising but also be easier to eat. My last little bug bear is that, sadly due to health issues, I cannot take caffeine. Yet because of this, I am penalised and have to pay extra per cup for decaffeinated coffee. Given that the prices aren't exactly cheap and fact that decaffeinated coffee drinkers are in the main in the minority, it seems unfair that we are charged extra. It won't stop me going to cafe again, but maybe something to consider.Parking: Free on street 90 mins. Free car park round back.

BP
83 Ayr Road, Newton Mearns, GlasgowI am writing to submit a review to this establishment which i frequent on my daily excursions.\\n\\nTo quell my daily tabloid addiction, as well pick up a guilty pleasure (one scotch egg me thinks ?) I journeyed to this bastion of prestige.\\n\\nPrior to making the purchase, I sauntered up to the kiosk when I saw a rambunctious sort starting back at me; dreadlocks and wild fiery eyes the kind you see in a businessman before securing a juicy deal. I knew this man would take my business to another level. I took a look at his attire, a suit, but not just an average suit, this was not a Wall Street sheep; this was a suit that said formal but fun, class with sass and Santa is here to party.\\n\\nI looked at his badge. Manager.\\nWell hello top corridor.\\n\\nI subtly rolled the scotch egg across the counter, eyes still locked. It was then he broke the silence with his sultry caramel voice and we began to share tales.\\n\\nA cultured man, for sure, been to places such as Ibiza, Hong Kong and Blantyre. A drinker, but not the alcoholic you see under the bus shelters in Glasgow city centre, this was a man of distinction, of taste. Whisky, of course.\\n\\nAs the conversation flourished and the sun began to set, I became quite peckish and completed the purchase for my egg. It didn’t sink in until he handed my receipt that soon we would have to part ways. At which point it became a somber affair, I felt a pang of sadness at the thought of having to leave this joyous man.\\n\\nAs I retreated back to my car, a mini metro, 1987 and still flaring the classic leather interior, I shot one glance back at the dreadlocked mystery manager only to find his warm gaze fixed back on me. It was at this point I knew returning to BP in newton mearns would become part of my daily ritual for many years to come.\\n\\nAs I lay in bed tonight gleefully thinking back on the experiences of the day, I can’t help but think how lucky I am to have my local BP. I am brought back to the Friedrich Nietzsche quote “ It is not the lack of love but the lack of friendships that makes unhappy marriages”\\n\\nThe manager. What a man!

Domino's Pizza - Glasgow - Newton Mearns
Unit 7, 3 Greenlaw Pl, Newton Mearns, GlasgowWe stopped to get a pizza on the way home from shopping and found we had flat tire. In the rain, in a hurry, stressed - but no worries! Greg at your Newton Mearns branch came out in a flash with his own jack and changed our tire for us! The whole thing was so unexpected and wonderful, and we still got our pizza in record time. Greg is a lovely person. You need to pay him all the money. Seriously, this is a gem of an employee you have here.
