The female serving was extremely rude and condescending regarding not having seen the cash only sign. So much so we took our business elsewhere to the chip shop on the hill which served lovely food, took card payments and had excellent customer service skills with a smile

Almost the best fish and chip, worth the waiting.

I had fish and chips and the food was so, so good. I want to point out that I've never eaten chips as good as this place. This to me was next level. I don't know what they do to their chips and it might just be the way it's done in Scotland, I don't know. Out of all of the fish and chip shops I've gone to, this is by far the best.

Disgusting over priced food with poor customer service. Tasteless, oily and over cooked to a crisp - this is so disappointing for such a prime location and serving tourists from around the world. This place will be busy regardless due to its location - who knew a chip shop literally on a harbourside could get it so wrong. Happy with prices if the food is good but literally unedible- 2 fish suppers and a juice for £25!!Go to the chippy on the hill nearby, lovely food and helpful friendly service.

Very disappointing. Saw the rave reviews which must be for a different shop.Lots of Fish bones, small portions for over £10 takeout. Batter was crispy, that is as good as it gets. Try the other shops before this one.

Long queues and they only allow cash, fish and chips were average only and there were bones in them. Dun see the hype in queuing for

on holiday up in Scotland... last nite oh we will chippy tea. I'd read the reviews and thought omg what a load of Karen's.. Well no they are not they was being honest.. I have never ever been to a chippy like it...was like a ymca dinner counter.. the servers was kids with not a clue what to do no manager ..no direction.. no push to get food out.. 30 minutes to get food that's before a 10 minute wait at the door...not because of a queue.. because no one says *are you being served* so the fish and chips was being done..they had no idea who's it was .. I said is that my order. I dunno... what do you mean you don't know.. all I wanted was salt and vinegar so inside the warmer went my 2 lots of fish and chips.. what are we waiting for??? for the peas and gravy to warm up !!!!! what ?? are they not in a bain Marie ??? so we eventually we got our food... come back to the holiday cottage.. opened up the gravy - it was lumpy and cold had to microwave and sieve it.. peas was hard and cold.. fish was soggy the batter wasn't cooked.. chips were mediocre- can't actually go wrong scooping chips into a box if I would have been eating on the hoof I would have taken it straight back asked for a full refund.. my husband contacted bank for refund.. no one in this day and age should pay a fortune for crappy food and an even worse service... do your self a favour and go else where.. I'm no Karen or moaner...I just ask for good food for the fortune I paid.

Not quite the worst fish and chips we have had but close. Expensive. The most we have paid for takeaway. Stingy portion of chips and a very thin fillet of poor quality fish. Soggy batter. Won't be returning.

The only truly authentic scottish fish & chips experience I found on my recent trip north. Most establishments try to cater for a more continental or international clientele - or actual human beings in general. Not this place though. The fish & chips encounter is as horrible as it's supposed to be and has been told off for generations: fish so greasy it melts your cheap plastic fork (plastic knife not provided, just use your hands), sloppy, half-cooked chips without taste, onion rings that make you consider your life's choices - a traditional scottish meal that will support your appreciation of the island's beverage producers. The final touch is the loving presentation of the food and the cheap, unopenable sauce sachets of indistinct flavour. No save-the-planet-greenies around here, each meal produces enough rubbish to offset a larger residential building's recycling efforts. If you fancy a more traditional approach to hebredian cuisine and have good health insurance, this is the place to visit in scotland!

Oily fish with some bones inside it, no sauces to offer. Also, the service is very questionable .The other fish and chips, "The chippy" , located 150 meters from them on the street level much , much better (and tasty also)

The owners seem very nice and were very chatty - it's a shame they cook everything in processed vegetables oils (not good for anyones health)... Luckily you can get beef dripping up to street - i guess they're providing a service to all these poor vegans.

Food was okay. Was shocked and stunned at the lack of customer service from the young man who was serving. Very rude to us considering we spent a lot of Money. Complained that he had to call for us three times considering that he told us to go outside. Some other snide remarks to us also. All in it was a really bad experience.

Bought fish and a tray of greasy oil saturated chips/bottom of the pan crumbs absolute disgusting unedible muck I have used this Chippy a good thew times and it’s been ok but what I was served today 10/9/23 I won’t be back absolute stinking and not cheap £10.50 for a tray of grease

Just a bad chippy, overpriced and pretty poor food, scampi was mushy and chips were cold and looked like they were scraped from the bottom of the basket.

First of all the lady behind the counter was rude and inpatient with customers ordering their food. The chips were soggy and the fish had a lot of bones in. The curry sauce clearly came out of a jar and the portion sizes were small even though they were expensive. Would not recommend unfortunately
