NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!My partner said she had here the food in here was quite nice and wanted to try it.We got here and I did not want to try or even go into the pub. When we walked in you could see the pub was dated and not in the best of conditions.At the bar we were met by a really lovely young lady who served us really well and was a credit to the inn.The pub is clean and has a lovely open fire which was on and it felt some homely. I’ll Be honest it not all modern and immaculate but it’s warm and very friendly.The food, the food was fantastic. It was worth every penny we spent there.The salt and chilli crispy curry chicken with rice and chips was great (a little hot for me but then I am a wimp) I eat it all tho,My partner ordered honey chilli crispy chicken and she loved every bite of it.We also tried the loaded fries which were Stornoway fries which were French fried coated in smoked paprika, topped with peppercorn sauce stornaway black pudding and mozzarella cheese. WOW they were finger licking. A main in its self.Would I visit them again? YESWould I eat there again? HELL YESWas the atmosphere good? YESDo I feel stupid for having an opinion of the pub just by looking at the front of it? YES I DO.

Great bar, great food. Music on the TV was a bit loud for a lunchtime Wednesday, but apart from that we really enjoyed our visit. Will be back.

Soo goood. Great service! Had the 3 for 12.5 chose the garlic fried mushrooms the tempura king prawn and the cheese fries. 1000% would do it again. Frigging amazing.

Very unassuming from the outside and easy to miss due to its location, but so so welcoming inside and very glad I stopped for a pint. Lovely friendly staff and Shannon is a gem.

Hidden Gem!Been meaning to visit The Arkhouse after seen their Facebook pictures of the food, took the family out for my daughters birthday and the food is unreal!!Service was great everyone’s was friendly will definitely be back soon!Food & drinks: We had 4 adults meals 2 kids meals and 6 drinks and was around £65, didn’t wait long for food our waitress was lovely very assertive, enjoy every bite!! Highly recommended.

A hidden gem. Dog friendly pub that we stopped in for lunch. Super friendly and welcoming staff. The food was delicious and the portions huge. Left well fed and will definitely be back next time we are in the area. Thank you

We will definitely be back for food, we were working in Stranraer last week and were looking for some good pub grub and stumbled upon the arkhouse and I my glad we did, service was great and when we got the Billy's badass burger didn't think we were going to finish but it was so tasty couldn't leave it alone.
