Been a Local here for 25 years. Traditional historic pub with 3ft thick buttressed stone walls (served its first pint in 1487 as an Almshouse to the Wells Bishops Palace- no, I wasn't there!), Great menu and real ales all week, but an exceptional choice for Sunday Lunch. Chefs Alex, Carl and their kitchen and bar team produce a selection of meats + veggie options with all the trimmings. And I do mean ALL the trimmings - suggest you skip breakfast! We were a large party celebrating two family birthdays and were not disappointed. We were served large portions of meat (and vegetarian option) with a variety of vegetables at a very reasonable price. Staff were friendly and efficient, and the pub warm and welcoming.

We ate here twice while we stayed within walking distance of WookeyWe did call and book, I’m pleased we did as it’s not a big pub and they are popular!Quick service, didn’t face to wait too long for our orders, waitresses’ were great
