Top Shop, High St, Wookey, WellsMy new favourite place. I live in Bruton and don't have a normal or reasonably priced cafe. I got the ploughman's and the portions are generous. It's a lovely place to just sit with a coffee. Looking forward to going back.

The Pheasant
Wells Rd, Wookey, WellsStopped here overnight in our camper. Free of charge, so long as you pop in for a drink. Incredibly welcoming and friendly staff, excellent range of local ciders. Simple but tasty menu, the fish and chips were fantastic.
Will definitely visit again if in the area.

Burcott Inn
Wookey Rd, Wookey, WellsOur first visit to The Burcott under the current ownership (don't ask me why we hadn't visited sooner, we don't live far away ? Our loss). Friendly, speedy service and an absolutely delicious freshly cooked Sunday lunch. Three of us had the small plates of chicken, which with the masses of veg provided, was plenty. We shared one portion of cauliflower cheese as an extra. How the men got through their very large plates of food I will never know! Luckily us less piggy ladies could squeeze in a pud- and boy are we glad we did. Three Bakewell tarts with custard, which we all agreed were the best we have ever tasted. Thanks to everyone at the Burcott - we had a lovely time and may not need to eat again until tomorrow (at least) ? We'll be back soon.
