“Relaxed atmosphere in great surroundings. Friendly staff, not rushed and meal was spot on. ?”

“The ambience in the pub is laid back and there was a lot of seating space around the time we visited (early November). The service is quick and the food is generally good.Only complaint I have is my jam sponge pudding dessert. I got something like a rock bun instead of a spongey moist cake: not a great way to end a meal.”

“Took some friends here for lunch on Wednesday. Car park surprisingly full for a weekday but this was because there was a function on in one of the bars. Despite being very busy the service and food were superb. Weekdays they have a selection of pensioners specials which are £9 for 2 courses and £10 for three courses, in addition to a varied menu. Nice choice of drinks at this Butcombe ( local brewery) pub. A friendly pub?”

“Great decor and atmosphere. The music was chilled but lively. Very welcome addition the upmarket bar scene in the town centre. We didn’t eat there so can’t comment on the food yet but we will definitely be back in the future.”

“My Mum's ashes are scattered near here, so once a year or more this is where we enjoy a meal/family treat, and it never fails to impress. I love the Ship Inn for its welcoming atmosphere (kids and dogs friendly, luckily for me and my anarcharchic lot), which is hard to come by when me a my noisy rabble attempt public civilisation ?. Service was very friendly and attentive; nothing was too much trouble, even when I discovered a flooding bathroom. Assuming it was one of mine who hadn't realised the taps weren't automatic, I summoned help to sort the flood. I felt no judgement; rare act of kindness!! Fair to say, I will continue to return on a regular basis (don't worry, taming my ferals will remain a top priority!!). With a special thank you to the Manager/Owner? And Candace, Sienna and May xx”

“We had a very nice lunch here, and the service was excellent, but she seemed to be the only one sorting things, so don't know how she would have managed if it was busier. Food was good, but not sure if we'll return.”

“Had a drive out and found this pub. 6 of us were served pretty fast and it was pleasant. The food was perfect and my family were happy. Keep up the great work A+”

“This was a very nice pub. Enjoyed the food and very good service. Only issue was our children and us sat in our coats because we was sat right next to the door and it was very cold. We asked if we could have the heating on but it wasnt put on because all of them would of gone on. It seemed more like a holding area than where a table should of been. The staff was great very friendly the outdoor play area was nice for the kids. Other than the seating it was a lovely evening out. Thanks.”

“Called in here late in the day , just for coffee , not very busy, good job because not many staff around , the bar was deserted waited a few minutes to get served. The coffee was of a good standard but had to ask for demerara sugar. Plenty of screens to watch that evenings sport. Will call in again.”
