I previously put a very positive review on about this chippy but now I regret I have to edit that review. At the original visit the fish was excellent and the chips were delicious at what I considered to be 5 star quality. I have visited since the above review (on more than one occasion) and Im sorry to say that,although the fish was still reasonably good, the chips were awfully rubbery, shrivelled and lukewarm. You would think that purchasing fish and chips at 5pm would mean that they were hot and freshly cooked for the tea time trade. No, the fish had dark rubbery batter as if yesterdays re cooked and the chips were barely warm. A real disappointment . Hopefully when the new Papas fish and chip shop opens it will provide enough competition to make the Admiral up their game. Quality of chips varies according to who’s on duty. Recently bought a cod special cod was diabolical there basically was just batter and even that was hard so it wasn’t even good enough for the cat never mind me. Peas usually lukewarm and a bit stewed.Only visit if desperate I say because the food is disgusting.
