Restaurants in Thorne
Canal Tavern
S Parade, Thorne, DoncasterFrom the moment we walked in, the service at the Canal Tavern was excellent – friendly staff, no wait for a table, and nothing was too much trouble. The décor, cutlery and tableware gave a cosy, rustic pub feel that instantly made us feel welcome.
There’s a wide range of drinks on offer, with the Guinness poured to perfection. The food was superb: the steak was cooked exactly to order, served with a large mushroom and rich mushroom sauce (with other sauces available), and the chunky hand-cut chips were spot on. I had the chicken shawarma hanging kebab, which was packed with flavour and served with wraps and salad, while the steak and ale pie was tender with perfectly buttery pastry.
A truly welcoming pub with great atmosphere, attentive service and outstanding food – without doubt one of the best pubs in Yorkshire. Highly recommended!

Deja Vu Coffee House & Bistro
7c Finkle Ct, Thorne, DoncasterI'm one of those awkward people who eats neither meat nor eggs (it's a taste thing, don't hate me), so I was horrified to see every item on the breakfast menu contained eggs! My fears were allayed, however, when the kind waitress said this wasn't a problem and offered to replace eggs with mushrooms on my avocado on toast (I've been eating avocado on toast before the hipsters made it trendy, so again, don't hate me). I have to say the chef really pulled it out the bag with this dish because it was utterly delicious! Thick, tasty wholegrain, layed with avocado and gorgeous fried, sliced button mushrooms. It was drizzled with reduced balsamic and came with a green water cress-like salad on top. Best breakfast I've had in ages! The accompanying cappuccino topped it off nicely.

The Windmill Inn
19 Queen St, Thorne, DoncasterWent on a busy Friday night and some of the customers were a bit aggressive towards the lovely staff. They handled it quite well but I fear some m punters had consumed something other than just alcohol. Beer choice was ok with a choice of cask, keg, Guinness and a few lagers. Prices were good with cask beers at £3.75 pint.

King's Cafe
30 King St, Thorne, DoncasterIt was my first time here yesterday and I am very impressed! As a fussy eater, not many cafes live up to my ridiculously high expectations but this cafe definitely did. I asked for a cottage pie and got a lovely plate full of veg and a Yorkshire pudding with gravy that was the right thickness and full of flavour. I couldn't believe that a plate full of well cooked food and a delicious hot chocolate only came up to just over 7 pound! When a week before I had spent nearly 30 pound just for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks. Definitely be coming here again I cannot recommend it enough.

Mirchi
92 Marshland Rd, Moorends, DoncasterCame to Doncaster from Essex for the annual pigeon show. Wife and I fancied an Indian meal, and I must say, we both said that it was the best we'd ever had. Much better than what you can get down our way. Taste wise and price wise. The wife loves biriani but she has never had it with an omelette on top. What a brilliant twist. Will definitely be coming back next year. May even come back before, just for the meal. Great. And you can bring your own wine.

Spice Hut Thorne
9-10 Finkle Ct, Thorne, DoncasterUpdate : Been back several times, always eat a different dish. Always tasty. Always satisfied & full. Purse never empty.
Fantastic flavours: especially a secret sauce I've never tasted, yummy. Great portion size. Lovely staff, if they don't know they ask a senior staff member, can't fault that. They will even prepare a dish off the menu of you book a day in advance (I like okra).
Saturday night, busy and loud (that's customers who shout not talk ?)
I'll be back regularly for the superb food. Highly recommend this CASH ONLY restaurant. Thank you ?
