Restaurants in Great Heck
The Bay Horse Inn
Main St, Great Heck, GooleWe stopped by this charming pub for lunch and had a great experience. To be safe during half term, we called ahead about an hour earlier to book a table, although there turned out to be plenty available.
After ordering drinks at the bar, we were shown to our table and given menus with a good range of lunchtime options, along with some appealing specials. It was a nice touch that our food order was taken at the table—something that’s becoming less common these days.
Partner asked about the mixed grill, which was only listed on the evening menu, but the staff were more than happy to accommodate the request.
We started with a shrimp dish, followed by fish and chips and the mixed grill for mains. Everything was freshly prepared and cooked to a high standard. Special mention to the chef for the delicious, chunky homemade chips—they were a highlight!
Overall, a really enjoyable visit. We’d happily return and would definitely recommend it. It also looks like a great spot to sit outside in nicer weather

The Baxter Arms
Fenwick Ln, DoncasterGreat little find. Stayed at a CL site just around the corner and they made us feel very welcome even with two dogs in tow. Food was honest, well cooked, simple but very tasty. We had steak pie and lasagna, can recommend both.
