Village Deli
9A Bridge St, BuresBefore launching my kayak I popped in and bought a large sausage roll, steak bake, and a porkpie for lunch. Amazingly it came to £6 something. All three were very tasty and the lady serving was lovely. Highly recommend ?

Eight Bells Bures
Colchester Rd, BuresWent for a family lunch, while visiting my dad who lives nearby.
A real traditional pub, serving delicious home cooked dishes.
Service was warm, friendly and prompt.
It was quite busy, proving it's popularity.
I would highly recommend.

The Barn At Assington
The St, Assington, SudburyWe had a lovely breakfast today Sunday 10/8 with ours friends we very kindly won a voucher at my granddaughters Nayland Primary School raffle, although we had eaten there before so knew it was nice. A first trip for our friends who throughly enjoyed it so we plan to go back in a couple of weeks with a few more guests. A lovely young lady on the till who took our order and payment i didn’t see her name but was a lovely young girl, gave our dog a treat ???If i could make one small suggestion perhaps don’t put the butter on the warm plates it was liquid by the time it was to be spread not a complaint just a note. Thanks again for donating the voucher it was very much appreciated ?

Thatchers Arms Mount Bures
Hall Rd, BuresTime for an update to my review.
The location is really nice and the dining room is very pleasant to sit in. I still visit fairly regularly even though it's not quite as good as it was at the time of my last review. Portion sizes tend to be on the small side and lack sufficient basics like enough gravy on mains and custard with certain desserts and what's there tends to be quite watery. There's usually never quite enough vegetables with main courses.
The fish and chips is usually very good and of a good size as are the pies and mash and sausages and mash .
Prices are on the high side compared to other places I eat at.
On the plus side the staff are always friendly and as I said at the start it is a nice location.
Previous review from 7 years ago:
The food exceeds expectations of what looks to be an average country pub. I eat here regularly and have never been disappointed yet. The food is of a very good standard and well presented. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The choice of drinks is good as well. Recommended.
