9A Bridge St, BuresBefore launching my kayak I popped in and bought a large sausage roll, steak bake, and a porkpie for lunch. Amazingly it came to £6 something. All three were very tasty and the lady serving was lovely. Highly recommend ?

The Barn At Assington
The St, Assington, SudburyWe had breakfast at the barn cafe today it was very good, hot and very tasty. Service was very good staff were courteous, friendly and professional. Prices are very fair and not too high. One day last week we called in for lunch and chose the ham, egg & chips, the difference from today’s offering was very different, we had one slice of what you could only describe as a very thin slice of plastic ham, a portion of French fries, not chips and two fried eggs, for the cost of £13.45, it was very underwhelming, the ham was not particularly nice, considering what we had today and have had in the past we can only hope that they were having a bad day that day. The Barn Cafe Is definitely worth a visit, the jacket potatoes are really good. My daughter has had lasagna which she enjoyed and said the garlic bread that came with it was the best she had ever had.

Thatchers Arms Mount Bures
Hall Rd, BuresWe visited The Thatchers Arms for dinner yesterday and honestly couldn’t fault it. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and had that perfect cosy pub vibe.
The food was spot on — I had the sausage swirl with mashed potato which was absolutely delicious. There were also some really good vegan options for my girlfriend, which she loved. The mocktail selection was a great touch too and something you don’t see everywhere.
All round a fantastic experience. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it.
