Great country pub, with a large restaurant area. Not a huge menu but good pub fare. I enjoyed the steak and ale pie. Waitress, prompt, efficient and friendly. Had a very tempting apres ski menu for those missing the piste.Parking: Follow the signs.Wheelchair accessibility: Parking close to pub and no steps into pub.

I’ve popped in here a handful of times since I moved to the area and have always felt warmly welcome by the staff. Super friendly and chatty. The beer (cask) is great, too. A good selection and clearly looked after. Lovely and inviting decor inside and situated right by the pond with inside seating that overlooks it. I’ve had some pub food from here before and it was very good. They also offer a pub quiz on a Wednesday which I hear is very popular. Definitely one of the better pubs in the area.Parking: Parking can be tricky depending on the time of day. It’s all roadside and residents parking nearby.

The story of England's pubs is like a journey through time. These places have been around for centuries, witnessing the changing tides of history. Many started as simple meeting spots and evolved into cherished community landmarks. The Cricketers, with its rustic charm, echoes this history, making it more than just a place to grab a bite. Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the food! At The Cricketers, we couldn't resist starting with the Cheese Soufflé with Coastal Cheddar sauce and the Crab and Sweetcorn Bites. Each bite was a burst of flavours that highlighted the pub's commitment to good food. For the main course, my husband enjoyed the hearty St Austell’s Beef and Ale Pie, while my daughter and I both relished the Ram Steak with Kale Salad. The food was more than delicious; it was a celebration of both tradition and taste. Our visit to The Cricketers was a delightful reminder of why countryside pubs are so famous. They offer more than just a meal; they provide a glimpse into the heart of England. With a blend of history, community, and mouth-watering dishes, these pubs continue to capture the essence of what makes them truly special. So, if you're ever near Downside, make sure to drop by The Cricketers for a taste of England's rich heritage and some super delicious food!

Great menu. Excellent meat, seafood, and vegetarian dishes. Good variety, but not so much that you worry about the quality. Had a beautifully cooked mushroom starter that was pure delight to eat.

Service was excellent and the food delicious. I would certainly recommend the crab and sweet corn bites.A lovely welcoming atmosphere, and all in all a very enjoyable and definitely happy visit.

Love the Cricketers! Always great and they allow dogs in the bar area. This time they lost a star because they gave us two teeny round tables pushed together for Sunday lunch for four and the corner we were in was absolutely freezing - had to ask for them to light the fire(which they kindly did). But the food, drinks and service were great. The star for me is always the pistachio soufflé… do yourself a favour and save room for this!!

Very nice indeed.

Only just got in, exceptionally busy at lunchtime. Excellent modules marinere. The steak pie though wasn't all that good. It was soggy. Very thin pastry with more mushrooms than meat. But we'd happily return and try other items on the menu.
