Came in yesterday about 3.30 pm for a Steak and Cheddar pie. Absolutely superb, the best pie I've ever had in my life. Best pint of Guiness in North Shields to boot. Will be back!

Traditional pub with a great atmosphere in the heart of the fishquay. Pies are the showstoppers here. Steak and ale pie, chock-a-block with filling, Corned Beef pie is a classic done really well and probably the best we've ever had. Gravy rich and tasty and mushy peas are lush. Only criticism is that the battered cod was measly for the price. That was a let down. Whilst the Waterfront chippy at the bottom of the street can't compete on pies and pints, they do knock spots off the lowlights for fish. They do monster battered cod for less cost. I would go back to the Lowlights for pies and pints only.

My first time at this lovely little pub sampling their famous pies and wasn't disappointed. Probably the best I've ever eaten, accompanied by proper chips and proper gravy. Good selection of lagers and ales. Dogs are welcome and a friendly, bustling atmosphere await inside.

Phenomenal as always! Fresh, local produce really makes a difference. Tasty and generous portions. Our kids love it and if they don’t finish it, we take it away and they have it later. Still tastes great! Lovely welcome from owner Cam and Danny; charismatic, charming and friendly. As always Lynsey and team working really hard but always manage to fit in super service and great craic. If it’s a quiet drink, family meal or a good old knees up with superb live, local music… This is your place! 100% all rounder!

Four of us had pie dishes including chicken and ham, minced beef and corned beef. All were delicious and the service quick and friendly.

Been a few years since our last visit to North Shields so we parked up near the Low Lights Tavern and decided to actually have a walk around the quayside. What a transformation from when we’d get the ferry up. Great fresh fish shops, restaurants to suit everyone’s favourite cuisines. We pondered on which restaurant to use…… yes, back to the Low Lights Tavern! It was full, inside and out but barman/owner was excellent, promising us a table as and when. He, alongside the barmaid were all energy. A few minutes wait and we got our table in the quaint left hand room. Yes, fish and a pie! The fish was outstanding and as expected the steak and ale pie hit the spot.

Popped in for lunch.. Had the steak pie, mushy peas, chips and gravy. It was excellent. A proper old fashioned pub serving stunningly good bait. Will be back very soon. Excellent value for money.

First time visiting today and definitely won't be the last. We ordered 3 different pies ( steak and mature cheddar, peppered steak and mushroom , and the corned beef ) all done with twice cooked chips (or mashed potatoes if you prefer) and with home made mushy peas on mine and all with a nice sized portion of gravy. The pies were amazing and filled to the brim. The service was excellent and the staff very helpful and polite. Can't wait to go back and try something else from the menu
