Great place for food and drinks. Fantastic steak and ale pie served by Jack who was very welcoming and helped me pick what to have. Definitely will be coming back for that Xmas pie!!!

Fabulous pies with very generous portions. Fast and friendly staff. If anyone is stressing about cooking Christmas dinner make it the day before and pop it all in a pie!!!!!

Been fancying here for a while, brought the mother and mother-in-law for lunch on a Thursday, arrived at 1pm ish and got a table by the fire. Staff were dead friendly and down to earth, drinks brought quickly and we all ordered the pie. Steak and ale for me. Pie is my absolute favourite pub food and without hesitation this was the best one i’ve ever had. Homemade, delicious flakey pastry, absolutely full of tender steak, delicious gravy, creamy mash and mushy peas. Cannot fault it and will be back, probably weekly, until ive tried them all! If you like a decent plate of home cooked food in a traditional pub with an open fire, Motown music in the background and great service then this is the place to go?

I have always loved the pies at Low Lights but I had never tried their corned beef pie until last week. WOW just WOW, it was the best corned beef pie I have had in my life and I have had a few as I’m 53! I had it with some amazing home made chips, nice thick gravy and what I call proper mushy peas. The person next to me even said they had pie envy! You must go and try it and you definitely won’t be disappointed. Don’t worry if there is no table available for you, they will write your name down and find you a table as soon as they can. The staff are lovely too and they have a really good drink choice.

What a big mistake we made going to try the pie lunch at Tynemouth Castle Inn, after being served a warm/cold lunch we decided not to accept their off of another meal and decided we should stick to what we know and like, we upped sticks and headed to THE LOW LIGHTS TAVERN on the fish quay North Shields and had yet another lovely lunch of steak pie, mash and mushy peas, and it was served HOT. I also had one of the best cups off tea I've had out in a long time. The back ground music was Motown, the staff are lovely and the 2 fellas we were chatting to about music and the way things were, were real canny.

We were warmly welcomed for lunch and enjoyed the most delicious proper hand-made pie s and chips. Generous portions and lots of great art to admire. Really tasty Neck Oil too!! Thoroughly enjoyable treat to cheer ourselves up in the rain?

Second time dining at this pub and once again it was gorgeous. The pie's are amazing. You have the choice of mash or twice-cooked chips plus Mushy peas and gravy. They have 1 vegan pie available and it's amazing ? Very friendly attentive staff and a friendly welcome on arrival

Good choice of pies. We had chips and mash with it. Hot and nice hot thick gravy, which was needed to pour over the luke warm mushy peas.

Phenomenal as always! Fresh, local produce really makes a difference. Tasty and generous portions. Our kids love it and if they don’t finish it, we take it away and they have it later. Still tastes great! Lovely welcome from owner Cam and Danny; charismatic, charming and friendly. As always Lynsey and team working really hard but always manage to fit in super service and great craic. If it’s a quiet drink, family meal or a good old knees up with superb live, local music… This is your place! 100% all rounder!
