“Unpretentious pub with excellent home cooked food. We visited with family including our five year old granddaughter. The pub was pretty full when we arrived at 6pm on a Friday so I was glad re reserved a table We were served almost immediately. The food arrived after around 15 minutes. We ordered two home cooked beef curries . These were gorgeous and plentiful. We choose half .The curry also came with a pompodom and side salad . My daughter in law has lasagna and chips which was sufficient for two people My husband had chicken in a pepper sauce which he loved. The children's menu although small was good and very reasonable at £3.95 . If you want good unpretentious hone cooked food served up with a smile and in generous portions this is the place for you .”

“The Moat House Inn is a great local pub. The staff here are so welcoming and friendly. The food is fantastic and the drinks are fairly priced. Jason, Leanne and the team are doing a fantastic job keeping the pub as a warm friendly place. Whether that’s for food which is great and at decent prices or just for beers. I would highly recommend to anyone”

“Pub was very very busy which was lovely to see considering it was early afternoon and the main lunchtime rush would have finished and the tea-time not yet started. There was a really nice atmosphere which made us feel comfortable from the minute we were shown to our table. The staff were very polite and helpful, albeit we had the feeling they were a bit overstretched considering we only saw 2 waiters/waitresses - Darren and a young girl, covering what appeared to be the majority, if not all of the tables which were all taken, but they did so with a smile on their faces and were very efficient and professional. The starters and main courses were really nice and decent-size portions but we did have to wait quite a while (approx. 30 mins from ordering for our starters to arrive and nearly 45 mins between finishing our starters and the main courses arriving. The time lapse was bearable due to it being a nice atmosphere as mentioned at the start of this review plus we weren't in any particular rush, but if we'd have had to wait any longer, I think it may have been a slightly different review! The desserts were a bit of a let-down. Portion sizes were quite small and the meringue was rock hard (I felt like asking for a chisel in order to be able to cut into it!). It was obviously shop bought and just had what appeared to be squirty cream piled up on top of it, with a teaspoon of passionfruit sauce and 3 very small square pieces of mango on top - extremely disappointing and not worth the money at all. I left most of it on the plate. However, that said, overall we would definitely go back there for the starters and main courses (hopefully they won't take so long to arrive next time) and we will be trying the Sunday Lunch in a few weeks time, but we won't be wasting our money on the desserts so will give them a miss.”

“I'm an American now living in Wales and rarely find American mustard in restaurants. That was not the case at The Malcom Uphill and it topped off a wonderful and juicy cheese burger!!!The place was packed yet we still received our meal within 15 minutes of ordering. Waiters and bar staff were excellent. We will definitely be back.”
