The Star Inn
Ewenny Rd, Wick, CowbridgeSo I took my normal Sunday routine but a wet and windy one taking the dog for a stroll down at Nash point beach. We both left soaked , and in need of some food and a warm welcoming fire . I took my normal visit to the star in wick . Where I was warmly welcomed , by the great staff and like I was going for a super warm fire place. I left feeling thoroughly satisfied. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming — exactly what you want for a laid-back Sunday afternoon. The pub strikes a great balance between traditional charm and comfortable dining.
The Sunday roast was the real highlight. Generous portions, beautifully cooked meat, and all the classic trimmings done properly. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned, with crisp roast potatoes and vegetables that hadn’t been overcooked. The gravy tied it all together perfectly — rich without being too heavy . I will regularly keep visiting this lovely pub/restaurant for the foreseeable future.
A Welsh made refreshing pint of orchard gold cider worked a treat to go with the food.
Just what I needed for a warm Sunday afternoon warm up.
Make your way there !!

Victoria Inn
Orchard Cl, Sigingstone, CowbridgeMy wife and I travelled to Llantwit Major for a family visit, we booked three nights at the Victoria Inn at Sigingstone for bed and breakfast .. The welcome was good and the room was comfortable with tea and coffee and also bottled water which was a welcome surprise. The bed was king size and comfortable. The en-suite was clean and modern and the shower cubicle was brilliant with an easy single twist for on/off and to set the temperature. We had dinner the first night in the excellent restaurant. The food was well cooked and delicious.
We had breakfast on three mornings and there was plenty of choice and it was cooked and served well.
There is a large parking area outside the Inn .. we will return

The Fox at Penllyn
Penllyn, CowbridgeAttended today with my wife and new born baby. The food was incredible. I rung ahead and spoke to Ceri before attending. Ceri greeted us as soon as we got there and made a fuss of the baby. Service was absolutely spot on and she was so lovely alongside her colleague waitress. The food was delicious and was a perfect lunch for us as a family would highly recommend and will be returning!

The Plough & Harrow
Monknash, CowbridgeVisited last night with the family and our two dogs. What a great friendly, proper local pub. Really friendly staff, who were very welcoming, we pre booked and glad we did, as the bar side where dogs are allowed was very busy and lots of people with dogs in. The food was fantastic, with that home cooked feel to it. I had my eye on the sausage and mash on the menu for a few days and it didn’t disappoint, one of us had the gammon and this was a massive thick piece. No WiFi in the pub, was a nice change as everyone was chatting and not on their phones. Good selection of drinks and the Butty Bach was a lovely pint. Definitely worth a visit if in the area and reasonably priced.

The White Lion
Cowbridge Rd, Ystradowen, CowbridgeEaten at the White Lion several times over last few months. Burger night on a Thursday is great. Decent selection of burgers and they’re a good size. Freshly made pizzas have been added to the menu in the evening for eating at the bar, outside or takeaway and these too are excellent. Staff always chatty and friendly ?

96 Degrees Coffee
Unit 7C Old Masons Yard, CowbridgeHave visited twice, once solo and once with group of colleagues. Plenty of space and some tables large enough for our group of 7. Lovely fresh orange juice and am told the coffee was excellent, didn't try any of the good offeringsParking: Main town car park is next to the shop. Free for 2 hours with option to pay for longer stays, but beware you do need to get a ticket from the (rather slow) P&D machine even if it's just for the free parking

1 Town Hall Square, CowbridgeCracking little pub, nice and lively with a good crowd even on a weekday. The claim about the Guinness being the best this side of Wales is spot on and the bartender clearly has his pour on point.

The Barley Mow
Graig Penllyn, CowbridgeIt feels like the middle of nowhere but when you get there, what a treasure! The real wood burner creates a wonderful cosy atmosphere and the Sunday roast was absolutely perfect, as good as you’d cook at home. The only quibble was with our booking experience - the phone number didn’t work and our in-person booking got lost. If these issues were a one off then this is a real gem.

Caffè Nero
4 Birds Ln, CowbridgeVery often good coffee and great staff, but really wish that they would make up the vegan cream in the fridge.
Perfect place for dogs too.
The staff work very hard and could perhaps benefit from having one member specifically there to wash up and clear tables.
Caffe Nero are a bit behind the times charging for alternative milk options. Most coffee houses no longer do so,and being penalised for allergies etc seems unfair.
