Have eaten with the Black bear a few times and always very high standard. The food is close to if not the best I have ever tasted. Menu is small but means they can focus on the quality more. A splendid place for surprisingly fine dining in a cosy, traditional pub environment. Food is original, rich and enormously high quality. A super place for ‘slow food’ of great flavour and quality, in every good sense. The home-baked bread is delicious. The service is friendly.

It's as good as the many 5* reviews say it is. I have dined in some great restaurants, but the food, the service, wine selections and the quality of preparation is outstanding. Hidden away outside Usk, you will not be disappointed.
