Not having been to The Black Boy for several years, we were happy that we were pleasantly welcomed and the menu looked interesting. We ordered drinks from a nice variety (we had Tribute) whilst deciding in the end to all go for the posh finger sandwiches. Despite having 2 different parties of 10 arriving at the same time, our food arrived within 10 minutes - very nicely presented - sitting in the winter sun looking down the canal to the boatyard. Walking into this place, which was reasonably busy, was like stepping back in time to the 1970’s. Staff were pleasant enough and the menu was quite extensive. I opted for half ribs, half chicken and although it was okay the chicken was very dry. Not sure I would go back again.
Went the Black Boy yesterday for Sunday lunch with friends. OUTSTANDING! We were welcomed by Michelle with a friendly smile that immediately made us feel welcomed. Despite the restaurant being packed, during the four hours we were there we were treated as though we were special guests. Although the menu is huge the food is freshly cooked and well presented as though each dish is a signature one.
