I was driving through the area with friends Monday and nowhere seemed to be open so we stopped at the Barleycorn. I must say what lovely friendly service. I had the lamb shank and it was so good really glad we stopped will return

Great food. Welcoming atmosphere. John provided a wonderful service and a varied and delicious traditional pub food at a good price. Lovely staff. Highly recommend.

Out for a walk today with friends and 5 dogs between us. We stopped here for a quick drink and were really impressed with the welcome from everyone. Plenty of room inside, lovely open fire. We decided we were going to eat while we were here after seeing some of the food. Menu is quite limited, but as the owners have only been here for 3 weeks, this was to be expected. Food was fantastic, and the home made chips were some of the best we'd ever had. Looking forward to the next visit already!

We didn't plan to visit, however as are preferred choice was fully booked we stopped. Lovely experience, staff and food I could not fault. Recommended.

Tried the Sunday roast. The meat and roast potatoes were acceptable, but over cooked. The rest of the meal was frankly sloppy. The general atmosphere left a lot to be desired. The staff, if you could call them that, were disheveled and lacked professionalism and the floors, table tops and just about everything else was filthy.

We live in Fareham and have always travelled because the carvery on Sundays were immense. They now have new owners who seemed lovely but no longer do carvery. We saw the lady from a distance (she was in the kitchen visible from the bar) who used to work there before the new ownership and she was always more on the shop floor and so lovely. The meal was nice but not on the same level as before - the veg choice used to be better and the fact you could choose your meat etc was so much better x still lovely food but not sure we will venture so far xx

Delicious food that is clearly freshly cooked. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and happy to accommodate changes to a dish. We will definitely be back.

Phone first ! And ask what’s on. Got there to find no steaks, no lasagne so ordered lamb x3 but no they just ran out. A Saturday night in tourist season!

Menu was very limited for a Friday evening. The Garlic bread starter was two slices of toasted white sliced bread with garlic butter!! The main course took over a hour to serve. The pub did not seem too busy. The fish and chip main meal was okay but very salty which is not to my taste. The food did not look like the posted reviews. I have since noted the most positive reviews are 5 years ago!! I would not recommend this pub. P.S. the final bill also included £20 for medium glass of Merlot red wine. The menu price for a bottle. !!

Food was ok, pub itself passable, service was best part of it. Garden was not good.
