We received a warm and friendly welcome and a good selection of drinks on tap. There was a great deal of choice of starters, mains and specials and in a party of six, we ate oysters, prawn cocktail, soup, pasta, steak, hamburger and fish, followed by ice cream and cheeses. There was also a fine choice of wines and we enjoyed the rose and Malbec. Absolutely deserves five stars - a beautiful and historic pub with outstandingly friendly owners and lovely smiling staff. The food was hot, very tasty and beautifully cooked. We had pancetta wrapped pork and steak in peppercorn sauce, both of which were tender and delicious. The lovely owners were happy for us to stay overnight in the car park in our camper, so we were able to enjoy some of the great wines and beers on offer as well. First time at this pub, we used the skittles alley as it was a small party to celebrate a birthday. The staff were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. A very old pub with a brilliant atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
