Early teatime visit so place was empty when we went in. Recommended by my daughter and waitress asked if we had booked. Didn't know we had to. The service was good, the food very nice and the batter on the fish was just as my husband and I love. Not greasy meal very pleased.
Blakeley's is a proper solid fish and chip shop. It's not greasy, it's well cooked and the range of options isn't ridiculous so you know what they are doing is being done well.

Can't fault it. Good northern fish and chips, with plenty of other options available too. Really well cooked, always served fresh and piping hot. My only advice? 1. If you want a sit-down meal book in advance as it's very popular with the locals. 2. Think carefully about whether you really have room for a starter as the chip portions are extremely generous!!!
